About this listen

Escaping the tumultuous life with her abusive husband, Zareena vanishes into the dark of night where she finds an enchanted land of mystical and magical creatures in the woods behind her home. But as magical as the land seems, a darkness lies in wait - a witch who desires to sit on the same throne Zareena has been destined to occupy.

In her quest to the throne and to wash away the curse the witch has cast upon both Legendary and its king, Zareena must also face her own demons of sexual desire and sexual conquest. The question for Zareena quickly becomes one of strength.

Can she accept her sexual awakening while also freeing Legendary from its 1,000-year curse?

Quinn Slater explores the world of erotic yearning and fantasy in a retelling of a classical fairy tale that explores one woman’s search for herself.

Interesting story

It was an interesting story and something that I did not expect. Zarenna had an interesting journey and not all parts were my cup of tea. If you are into fantasy worlds then this would be a good choice. I finished the book and wasn’t disappointed.

The narration could have been better for me. I ended up speeding it up to 1.25 and that helped. The narrator spoke slow and her voice was somewhat childlike for me. It may have fit with the scene the story was trying to set but made it somewhat hard to get the separate characters.

What a way to find strength

Well, if this isn't a story for female empowerment amongst other politically inclined topics, and social situations wrapped in sexy, sensually, taboo bow for aural titillation, i'd be hard pressed to find another story that would be.

Mystery, fantasy, and sexy!

This story was full of twists and lots of fantastic creatures. I listened to this book on Audible and that is where it took a not so good turn for me. The narrator did her best to sound mystical and alluring, but she fell short. If I had read the story instead of listened, I may have given it 5 stars. There were moments that I felt lost with so many different characters and encounters, but in the end the story was magical and enchanting. When I listen to a story, I'm looking for the escape into a different world. I couldn't get passed the sound of her voice and the lack of depth and diversity to the different creatures of the forest. This really took away from the story for me. I will say that I looked forward to the different encounters that Zareena faced on her journey and I was very intrigued by the mystery of not knowing what would happen once she got to the purple castle. The obstacles were adventurous and enticing. A twisty tale intertwined with erotica made for a delightful tale. I especially loved her encounter with the banshee and the unicorn. This is a fantasy readers will truly enjoy. I do not recommend the Audible version.

Interesting weird.

So...I'm not sure how this is a retelling of Snow White other than the people she had sexual encounters with on her journey, which I think there were seven people. I felt it was more Alice in Wonderland because of the strange encounters on her journey. The sex scenes were hot but the story line didn't make any sense to me and there's nothing to build up any of the relationship or reasoning other than a sexual attraction or a sexual exploration of the main character. The ending really didn't feel like an ending. Like, I am not sure if there will be another book or if this is just a one time story. Seriously, even after giving it some time, I am still kind of not sure how I feel about this book. Narrator was ok, not great, not bad.
