About this listen

Clayton Miller's life is a mess. His career as one of the country's best comedy script writers has stalled, and his long term girlfriend has left him for his ex best friend and ex writing partner. Just when he thinks his life couldn't get any worse, he commits a spectacularly public fall from grace, and with the press hounding him, his agent banishes him to the middle of nowhere until the dust has settled.

At a remote country house he meets Alice. Alice Shoemaker is a voiceover artist who habitually goes to great lengths to avoid telling the truth. After agreeing to help out a friend, by shopping and cleaning for the unknown man staying at Cuckoo House, she soon becomes suspicious that her strange and obnoxiously rude client has something to hide. But equally so does she. When they discover the truth about each other they form an unlikely friendship, but then Alice discovers Clayton has betrayed her in the worst possible way.

This is the first book I have listened to by Erika James and will definitely not be my last. I will also seek out other titles narrated by Juanita McMahon.

Any additional comments?

This is my first Erica James book. Took me a couple of chapters to get into it, but once I got into it I really enjoyed it. The narrator was lovely to listen to and did wonderful accents.

I found this story to be captivating! I couldn’t wait to get back to it, time and again. I was a little sorry to see it end! The characters are distinct and evocative, and the story delivers at every corner. Very satisfying, indeed!

The story draws you in quickly and you can't stop listening. The characters are rich, flawed and funny. I dare you not to laugh out loud and shed a couple of tears. Well worth the download.

I couldn't put it down....

This is a great easy listen, the right amount of characters that u can get into them without having to follow too many plot lines. The story has some twists and turns, and it moves along at a good pace. Well worth a read.
