About this listen

The fourth book in Sandra Hill's Cajun series serves up laugh-out-loud humor and sizzling romance in equal portions.

The long, hot Louisiana summer just got hotter for Rene LeDeux. He returns home to Southern Louisiana after quitting his job in Washington as an environmental lobbyist. Years of battling with the oil industry and land developers have left him completely burnt out, and now all he wants to do is work on his cabin on Bayou Black. But his peace of mind is disrupted by a few things.

One, his great-aunt Tante Lulu is determined to get him hitched. Two, a couple of his activist friends have hatched a plot to bring national attention to their cause to save the bayou. They've kidnapped a TV celebrity and brought her to Rene's cabin. And three, the celebrity is none other than Valerie "Ice" Breux, Rene's nemesis while growing up.

Now Val's stranded in Rene's remote cabin, besieged by irrepressible LeDeux relations, not to mention a dingbat duo out to save the swamp. It's bad enough being kidnapped, but did she have to land in the lap of the most irritating, sexiest hunk she's ever laid her eyes on? Val vows she'll give her heart to the Cajun bad boy when alligators fly. Rene swears to get the girl who got away.

It's never been steamier in the bayou than with two people this red-hot with desire...and more than ready for love.

Critic reviews

"I'm surprised Ms. Hill was able to get this book to her publisher without the pages burning up. Rene. Oh, Rene! Lots of deep sighs and there really are no good words for this Cajun hunk...their spicy sex life makes for great reading...the romance aside, there's a great grandmother type character in this book...Tante Lulu...who will make you laugh out loud. A must read! Its' just too fun and steamy to miss."—Fresh Fiction

Louisiana books at their best1

I love these Cajun books. You get to know the characters and feel right at home in the Bayou. We all need a little St Jude in our lives. I do believe l'll buy myself one. Couldn't hurt. Hats off to the author and narrator. Both did a great job. One for writing the book, the other for bring it to life.

Red Hot is right🧨🧨 Love love loved it!

My first Sandra Hill book, don’t know how I’ve missed her for as many years as I’ve been reading. It was a smokin hot book just the way I like, but it had so many lol moments. The characters were terrific & so interesting. The storyline brought out so many different true life happenings whether good or bad, but they were handled in a tasteful way. The author painted pictures with her words as few do, I could see my self in the bayou. I thought the narrator did a wonderful job of the sexy Rene and his quirky aunt. Highly recommend this book.

The Red-Hot Cajun

Tante Lulu is back and is busy matchmaking again. This time it is Rene. But it doesn't go the way he thinks. He has been handed a woman who was not his friend back while growing up, Valerie. They are poles apart in the environment surrounding the Bayou. She was dropped off at his place way in the bayou without cell phone or wifi to get her to change her mind about her and family stance on what is going on there. Their time together they are not alone. No, Tante Lulu is there to keep stirring the pot of the sparks growing between these two. It was comical to listen to and St Jude was active again in getting these two together. I have loved reading these books by Sandra Hill and will keep reading them.

Not very interesting

The writer uses way too many qluiches in her story. Narrator changes character’s accents throughout the story. One minute they sound northern and the next a form of Cajun accent. Unfortunately I could not finish the book for its silliness. Narrators should study the Cajun accent before she continues with other Cajun books. 2 star is for effort.
