About this listen

Audiobook one: The Holy Grail

Fresh from his success with the search and rescue of the USS Omega Deep, Sam Reilly was looking forward to some much-needed rest. Not everyone had the same idea, though.

When a panicked man with purple eyes grabs him at gunpoint and takes him hostage, Sam knows this is more than a mere ransom opportunity; this man is scared of something. And Sam is going to have to find what it is if he wants to get out of this alive.

Audiobook two: The Phoenix Sanction

On board Phoenix Airlines Flight 318, Andrew Goddard awakens to discover the cockpit empty and all the passengers unconscious.

In the Colorado Monarch Mountains, an old gold miner discovers a fiendish stone mask sealed inside an obsidian chamber.

Sam Reilly has just three weeks to find out how the two unlikely events are connected, and the secret behind it might change everything we thought we knew about humanity.

Audiobook three: Habitat Zero

In the Pacific Ocean, a Silicon Valley magnate vacationing on his luxury motor yacht, Carpe Diem, stumbles across a floating island of pumice.

Two weeks later, the motor yacht returns to its home port in San Diego on autopilot - but when it arrives, nobody disembarks.

Sam Reilly and his team are called in to investigate what happened onboard Carpe Diem. But what at first appears to be a simple boating accident soon turns into a deadly game of international intrigue - sending America and Russia racing toward each other on an unavoidable collision course.

Just Can't Get Enough of This Series

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This series is truly getting addictive... Each book, which has in common the likable and bright Sam Reilly and a cast of unusual and interesting characters, will bring you into a world of unexpected situations in which science is used to explain what otherwise would be pure science fiction or paranormal happenings. You will want to listen to each story to the end, without pause, eager to see where the creative fantasy of the author will take you. Which brings me to the fact that one of the books at least, "Habitat Zero" could have been developed a little more. The storyline is great but there are a few "gray" areas. Maybe a revisit by the author into these undeveloped aspects of the story, would help to turn a great book into a classic.
As usual the narration by David Gilmore was superb. He truly embodies the Sam Reilly's personality, but is also able to give life to the other characters. I'm looking forward to continue my journey of discovery into the series.

Entertaining and so much fun...

I had so much fun listening to this Collection. I have liked the Sam Reilly books for quite a while - but to me this volume is particularly good. It is full of great ideas and adventure.

Also, Christopher Cartwright does a great job as a narrator. I like his voice very much. Recommended.

Another Great Collection!

I love the Sam Reilly series and here are my reviews of the books in this set:

Sam Reilly 13 - The Holy Grail
I really enjoyed listening to this book. I love Sam Reilly; his cool logic, grace under fire and fast thinking. I listened to this one in one sitting, growling whenever I got interrupted (not kidding). Anyway, like all the other Sam Reilly books this one is awesome. I love how Mr Cartwright writes and the amount of research he puts into his books, yet the details don't bog the story down. The narration is very well done by David Gilmore, as usual. He really owns this series and keeps the voices the same from their first appearance to latest. I appreciate how Mr Gilmore doesn't go over the top with the characters' emotions, it just wouldn't fit. This is well written and excellently executed. If you are a Sam Reilly fan then you won't want to miss out on this one. The ending was a nice surprise too!

Sam Reilly 14 - The Phoenix Sanction
This is another book in the Sam Reilly series and I very much enjoyed it. This series is not for everyone, think along the lines of Sam Spade, but I find I have a hard time stopping for the night or even pausing when my attention is needed elsewhere. I'm always intrigued how the author will apply history to his stories and what impact it will have on Sam. There's action, adventure, suspense and mystery. There's nothing gory or over the top about this series and I find I enjoy that very much. The narration was superbly done by David Gilmore which is nothing new to those of us who have listened to the series from book one to now. I enjoy how his narration is understated, which (to me) adds to the story.

Sam Reilly 15 - Habitat Zero
This is another great Sam Reilly story. I have listened to all 15 stories in this series and I enjoyed this one as much as I have all the others. There's plenty of history and information put into easy to understand terms which I really love about this series. There's action, adventure, mystery, suspense and cool logic. In this tale future, present and past are all combined wonderfully. I love the Sam Reilly books and, as I've said before, if you enjoy Bogart's Sam Spade from old then you really should check out this book and the entire series! The narration was awesome. David Gilmore really brings the story to life. Each character has their own voice and emotions but without any over-the-top dramatics.

Great series

The Holy Grail, my thirteenth read from author Christopher Cartwright & the thirteenth book in the highly entertaining Sam Reilly series. This book takes a new turn in the on-going theme of the master builders. Well-written thriller with captivating & well-developed main characters.
The Phoenix Sanction, my fourteenth read from author Christopher Cartwright & the fourteenth book in the highly entertaining Sam Reilly series. What's happened to the ocean & water as of late? Well-written thriller with captivating & well-developed main characters. Reminds me of Dan Brown’s writing. These books have been a rollicking adventure.
Habitat Zero, my fifteenth read from author Christopher Cartwright & the fifteenth book in the highly entertaining Sam Reilly series. Well-written thriller with captivating & well-developed main characters. Reminds me of Dan Brown’s writing. These books have been a rollicking adventure & I’ll be reading more by this author and am looking for sales to buy more yet! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018)

Love Sam!

I love this series, the characters and stories grip you from the start! In The Holy Grail a random Joe Blow is just trying to donate blood and suddenly finds himself in the middle of a worldly conspiracy and kidnapping Sam Riley! This may have been my favorite of the set as I found myself on the edge of my seat from the very beginning!

The Phoenix Sanction was also really good right off the bat. It starts with Amelia Earhart and actually ends with Amelia Earhart with a lot of adventure and Sam in between. Another random Joe Blow, not the same as the first book, also finds himself in a pickle until he finds Sam and of course then it gets worse.

With Habitat Zero we have communists, nuclear waste, Sam, a couple rich kids and Russians. What could be better. Poor Sam just wants a vacation, Tom almost gets one, almost. Love the series, love the narration. I received a free review copy of this book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This series is BOMB!

These 3 books were so good! I love the whole series so far. Christoper Cartwright builds a character well. you will fall in love with every ones personality and quirks. I’m not the biggest fan of how he describes women in this series. Every women is beautiful and fit, and lithe and bright eyed. I think 1 character has been described otherwise. Every character is smart and beautiful in this series- which isn’t a deal breaker by any means, but worth mentioning for those readers/listeners who care about it.

I highly recommend this series. It is worth all your money!

I was gifted this series to review, up to book 18. I WILL be buying the last 5 books I don’t currently have!

Exciting and imaginative, adventurous book!

I absolutely LOVED this Collection! It had everything you could hope for in an adventure/mystery. It was historic and had rich characters, such as Amelia Earhart. The main character, Sam Reilly, is a millionaire playboy who is a savvy marine biologist. He finds himself in a bunch of dangerous situations and barely gets out of some of them unscathed. There are many different interesting settings that tend to change rapidly. From scuba adventures, cave exploration, an obsidian orb, underwater 8th continent, to the Pentagon. I would recommend this book for anyone with an adventurous spirit who likes historic novels. This collection kept me on the edge of my seat the whole 21 hours, it is definitely worth your time!!
