Publisher's summary

Nicolas Fox is a charming con man and master thief on the run. Kate O'Hare is the FBI agent who is hot on his trail. At least that's what everyone thinks. In reality Fox and O'Hare are secretly working together to bring down super criminals the law can't touch. Criminals like brutal casino magnate Evan Trace.

Evan Trace is running a money-laundering operation through his casino in Macau. Some of his best customers are mobsters, dictators, and global terrorists. Nick and Kate will have to go deep undercover as high-stakes gamblers, wagering millions of dollars - and their lives - in an attempt to topple Trace's empire.

It's a scam that will take Fox and O'Hare from the Las Vegas strip to the sun soaked beaches of Oahu's North Shore and into the dark back alleys of Macau. Their only backup - a self-absorbed actor; a Somali pirate; and Kate's father, an ex-soldier who believes a rocket launcher is the best way to solve every problem. What could possibly go wrong?

Another great Evanovich/Goldberg story

I really enjoyed the character development of the central characters and the cliff-hanger ending (though I would have liked more story at the end). Scott Brick's talent in reading the story had me laughing out loud at various points in the narrative. Keep the series coming!

Excellent series

Any additional comments?

The series just keeps getting better and better. Nicholas and Kate are dynamite together and their recruited teams are unforgettable characters as they help with the con they are hired to undertake. I highly suggest, or beg, that you start at the beginning with The Heist and then go forward in order since the story builds from book to book. You won't be disappointed. In fact I predict you will be hooked, as I am.
By the way, Scott Brick is an outstanding narrator - one of the best in the business.

This was my favorite in the series

What did you love best about The Scam?

The conversations. I love the conversations between Kate and her dad and his view on what is important in childrearing. I also enjoyed the side story of dealing with the coyotes around her sister's property.

What did you like best about this story?

I like how "the team" that Kate and Nick assemble still are in the dark about Kate and Nick. I find it a little implausible but I like that they involved everyone again.

Which scene was your favorite?

I think answering this would give away great scenes to others. Suffice it say there were several.

Any additional comments?

The one mark seemed a little like a Bond villain.

I think I enjoyed this book the most. The characters have evolved a little more. The relationship between Nick and Kate has fallen a bit more in place. I'm waiting for the next one.

I would like to caution others not to give away spoilers in their reviews. Please let us find out the ending on our own.

So very many plot twists.

Since Audible first began - yes, my membership goes back that far - it was enough to just leave a star review - no text commentary needed. Now, they require you to write a paragraph if you want to leave a star review. This is silly. Leave that bit to folks who actually want to comment. For the rest of us - please Audible - let's go back to the way that worked well for decades.

Crazy cliffhanger, #5 better not take a year!

I love this series. Scott Brick does a great job bringing Nick & Kate to life. While this book felt like the job was a little rushed (almost like listening to an abridged version) I enjoyed every second up until (and including) the cliffhanger. With a cliffhanger like this one, it better not take a year to put out the next Fox and O'Hare book or that would be pure torture!
