About this listen

A delightful adveture full of humor and heart set in Elizabethan England!

Widge is an orphan with a rare talent for shorthand. His fearsome master has just one demand: steal Shakespeare's play "Hamlet" - or else. Widge has no choice but to follow orders, so he works his way into the heart of the Globe Theatre, where Shakespeare's players perform. As full of twists and turns as a London alleyway, this entertaining novel is rich in period details, colorful characters, villainy, and drama.

We were forced to read this for english in school but its actually quite enjoyable. Its a good book, has a good message, and has compelling characters. I find myself really relating to Widge but the characters are so well write that even characters such as Nick and Folcaner are enjoyable and relatable as well. Would definitely recommend this book, especially for a classroom 10/10. <3

I was afraid of this book because I thought it would be in Elizabethian accent. This is a good way to.get interested in Shakespeare.

We read a lot in our homeschool and this was one of the great stories set in Shakespeare’s time. The story line kept us engaged, the vocabulary and writing style was refreshing and the narration- excellent. Highly recommend.
