If you have the book, get this audio!

I have this story in book form, and have read it to my children in the past. It is a wonderful story of courage and character. But this audio version adds so much to the story. The times when John Go in the Wind is playing the harp, you get to hear the tune. When the church bells ring, you get to hear them. The audiobook was truly a delight to listen too. I can’t recommend it enough.

great for young kids ages 6-12

The book proved to be a pleasant, gentle story with a good moral. It was not incredibly moving, though.

Loved it!

Great story of the time period and a great story telling as well. Loved the whimsical music and overall performance of the narrator. It kept my kids engaged in the story and wanting more.

A Hidden Hero

Would you listen to The Door in the Wall again? Why?

While I did not initially anticipate enjoying The Door In the Wall, sharing the audio version with my daughter proved to be a pleasure.

What about Roger Rees’s performance did you like?

The cadence, speed and variety of vocalizations added to the experience.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Would time have allowed, this book would have been listened to in one setting as the storyline allows the reader (listener, in this case) to move along with the story.

Any additional comments?

I am pleased with having purchased and listened to this story by Marguerite De Angeli.

Immerse yourself in the past

What a beautiful rendition of the door in the wall. My 10 year old loved the old style English and we both enjoyed the sound effects; whether a bell tolling or harp playing. The vivid descriptions bring the scenes and time period to life. The battle scenes were particularly gripping to my 8 year old son. A truly enjoyable listen.
