Publisher's summary

Destroying the portals between worlds was supposed to force the entity out of Rale. Instead, it's trapped him there.

This has cut Nolost off from much of his power, buying some time to try to stop him from annihilating the world. Dante and Blays' last hope lies in finding someone or something called the Burdan rah Saylan. Knowing nothing about the Burdan except for their name, they travel far to the east into lands they've never heard of.

There, they discover that the Burdan are a secret order founded by a god thousands of years ago. They wield the mithir, an unknown form of sorcery developed to kill Beyonders, whom Nolost is using as his army—and this power might even be able to kill Nolost himself.

Training in the mithir might well kill them. But with all other hopes exhausted, Dante, Blays, and Gladdic race to harness its power before the entity can finish bringing Rale to its end.

But the entity's been hunting them all along. He knows what they've been doing. And he means to kill them before they've gained the strength to fight back.

The Shattered Path is the second-to-last book in the Cycle of Galand.

to much time spent going nowhere

it wasn't bad but I felt like it was all a training montage without the montage. to much time spent on theory and someone Dante makes things happen. it was good they brought an old character back. but I won't spoil it

Going Somewhere

The story progresses but seems to spin wheels at times. Reynolds provides the personality to keep listeners engaged at these times. Hopefully the next book wraps things up nicely.

Good reading!

I am a big fan of this series. I was waiting for this book and looking forward to its end. If you enjoyed previous books you will enjoy this one. It is a bit complicated and convoluted BUT still enjoyable to read as journey of three friends continues. 😁

Pretty slow

I have been following this series for quite a while now and it’s good storyline. This one seemed like a filler more than anything. Not much really happened throughout the book.

Intense and descriptive

Yet again a fantastic performance. It continues to bring great life to the characters I have been following for 9 books.

There was a bit much repetitive information and actions at around the middle of the book, but the first bit and the last 5-6 hours were absolutely phenomenal. Can’t wait for the last book, which hopefully won’t be the last in this universe.

Good read

Well written as usual. Good series with some real meat to it. I’d recommend this series, but you have to start at the beginning to know what is going on.

pretty good

I have really enjoyed this series, but it needed to end a while ago. the books have gotten repetitive and tiresome. I love the characters which is why I've kept with the series, but I'm ready for it to end.
