About this listen

Arnie Roth, a family practitioner, develops viral encephalitis. He awakens from the near-death experience with a new appreciation for life and an unexpected talent, his sensitivity to smell has increased a thousandfold.

The Sixth Sense is highly entertaining, thought provoking, and a touching journey through a world that influences us every day, but one that we know too little about.

Sound???

The sound on this book was horrible, like the narrator was in a tunnel or cave. It really needs to be redone or the sound modified to make it more pleasant.

Bad quality audio

The narrator was really hard to hear and very monotone and robotic, and the quality of the audio was bad but aside from that the story was absolutely amazing, I love the author and this series

Dulled Senses

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Anyone who wants character development for more than half the book before getting an idea of what is going on.

What was most disappointing about Lawrence W. Gold M.D.’s story?

Too many characters to develop and try to keep track of as the story slowly develops.

Would you be willing to try another one of Craig R. Nickerson’s performances?

No. He was perhaps the worst thing about this audio book. He sounded like he his nose was stuffed up and he was recording in a tunnel. He has very limited range in his voice and this story had too many characters which were indistinguishable given his limited range.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The story was interesting and the implications of heightened sensory acuteness were explored in intriguing ways.

Any additional comments?

Perhaps a new recording with a narrator with a good range of voices might have made the story more appealing.

What didn’t you like about Craig R. Nickerson’s performance?

What I managed to hear appeared to be very monotone.
