A woman hunted
Once a hopeless wallflower, Clarissa Meadows blossomed into a beauty for a single splendid season—only to catch the eye of a madman bent on possessing her. Now, she must flee where he'll never follow: a friend's house in the Scottish Highlands. Except he does follow. And Clarissa has nowhere left to run.
A protector unbound
Campbell MacPherson shouldn't be dreaming about the fair English lass who blushes like a sunrise, blurts out double entendres over breakfast, and shows a peculiar interest in the size of his hands. But when she reveals the threat putting fear in her eyes, this rough, solitary giant vows his protection, even if it means keeping temptation as close as his next breath.
A temptation too hot to deny
Clarissa couldn't ask for a more imposing—or enthralling—bodyguard than Campbell MacPherson. But accepting his protection puts him squarely in a predator's sights. And soon, she faces an impossible choice: stay in the shelter of his arms or save the man she loves from the wolf she's brought to his door.
Contains mature themes.

Elsa Braden’s writing is perfection. How she manages to create romance novels with edge of your seat thrills while also incorporating so many laugh out loud moments is completely baffling. I’m just thankful that she does and does it so incredibly well. This one is going straight onto the favorites list.
Elisa Braden’s Midnight in Scotland series + Ruth Urquhart = deliciousness.

This story gets back to my favorite thing about this author: the combination of a heartfelt romance with pops of humor.
“Why did the sight of him reduce her to blathering idiocy?”
This has the author’s formula of dainty damsels sheltered while the men take care of business.
“I am untried you see- what I mean to say is- I have never touched a long gun, or a short one-
actually no gun of any sort has ever been fondled by these fingers…”
Luckily, there’s enough fun with puns for me to forget modern day sensibility and embrace the regency.
“That’s nay a gun.”
For lovers of Scottish/Gaelic lingo and accents, you should ken this is full of wee bonnie lassies and coos.
“Some creatures are never too big for petting.”
For lovers of animals, this has Clarissa fighting a past filled with animal tragedies. While detailed a bit more than I’d care for in my frothy romance, I didn’t find it too gruesome, but those listeners who are all about the animals should be prepared for a stalker willing to kill man and beast alike.
“Graeyacht…” (probably spelling this wrong)
The series formula includes each MacPherson male using a different exotic term of endearment for his particular lady, endlessly repeated (I suppose it’s better than ‘babe’), sex that mentions her ‘berry’ colored lady bits, and of course that moment when she wonders at the size of his … hands.😜
“Something about plowing…”
The formula tweaks include Campbell being the strong silent type … until the nooky starts, when he’s a dirty talker. There’s also a lot of paranormal stuff like ghosts, potions, and dream walking (dream sexing? Is that a thing?). In sum, plots and features I only like in regency romance.
Fun but formulaic
