About this listen

Twelve years ago, eight friends ran an exclusive group at university: the Masquerade Murder Society. The mysteries they solved may have been grisly, and brilliantly staged, but they were always fictional—until their final Christmas Masquerade, when one of the group disappeared, never to be seen again.

Now our privileged young cast of old university friends are summoned to the depths of Scotland for a Christmas-themed masquerade party. But all are hiding something deep below the surface that could make or break their careers.

When they arrive, each is assigned a new identity themed around the Twelve Days of Christmas—they become Lady Partridge or Mr. Gold, Lord Leapworth or Doctor Swan. The game begins, and it feels just like old times—until the next morning, when Lady Partridge is found hanging, dead, from a pear tree.

It quickly becomes clear that in this game the murder will be all too real, and the story is bringing long-hidden secrets to the surface. If the group hopes to win the game and survive until Christmas morning, they will need to face the truth about their history together and who they have become—and what really happened on that fateful night twelve years before.

Nicely Twisted

A Christmas Who Dun it Party.. oh what fun..until actual dead bodies start appearing.

Everyone has an angle. Everyone is a suspect. Everyone could be the killer… but it’s not everyone is it.

The author does a great job of so immersing you in all the minor side stories and background info that you miss (or at least I did) the killer being right there in front of your nose all the time.

Go ahead .. cold weather and all- grab a hot drink and settle back and prepare to be swept away- immersed in a bunch of rich people silly drama as bodies start appearing - dead.

A classic Who Dun It that is nicely twisted.

And Then There Were None, But Make It Christmas

I loved this book so much it's definitely got a spot on my yearly re-read list. It had all my favorite whodunit tropes, plus some juicy modern-day drama and creative morality kills. The narrator was excellent, as well, though I may have to switch to the physical copy for future readings because there are so many characters that it got a little confusing to keep up with them all. I highly recommend this holiday thriller!

Wonderful holiday version of Then There Were None

Many authors use this theme, but most are only moderately successful. Andreina Cordani hit it out of the park. Ella Lynch was outstanding. At first it was difficult to keep track of the characters but that did not deter from the enjoyment. As more stories and facts were revealed I knew who everyone was and started attempting to decide who the culprit was. The clues are fair and the ending fantastic.

Good story

I enjoyed this story but felt going back and forth from past to present is a bit confusing. I thought the narrator was good. I would try another title from this author

Who done it?

It was captivating but also convoluted. There were several characters and we kept going from past to present. I wish more focus was on the “12 days of Christmas” gift aspects. Also, the whole secret group they were a part of turned into something off the wall. However, it was a fun read and I’d read another from this author.
