About this listen

The Hollows is gripped in unrest and on the brink of civil war as an insurgency of anarchists rise, and brother and sister vie for the throne in the second novel in the critically hailed Legacy of the Mercenary King series, which Brandon Sanderson called "excellent".

Michael Kingman thought he was going to die by the executioner's axe, forever labeled as a traitor. Still alive, and under the protection of the Orbis Mercenary company, Michael and his family and friends are deeply involved in the seemingly rival conspiracies that are tearing The Hollows apart. With the death of the king, both the corrupt prince and his sister, Serena, are vying for the throne, while the rebel emperor is spreading lies among the people, and all of them want Michael dead. This is a story of betrayal, murder, and rebellion, and in this direct sequel to the debut novel The Kingdom of Liars, also some hope for justice.

For those who love the intrigue and widening scope of epic fantasy like Sanderson's Mistborn and Weeks' The Black Prism, you will find your next must-have fantasy series.

A Good Listen

This is a pretty good story. The narrator gets so quite you can hardly hear him at times. And he doesn't have quite the range as others. But did a good job over all. The story lacks a little bit of detail that would tie it all together. But all in all was def worth the money and time!

There are so many moving parts

I sometimes would get lost, confuse characters and need to rewind to figure things out. There’s a lot going on, I wondered why he would introduce concepts and people and never return. For example we learn there’s a fabricator who literally could solve the major problem in the book but nobody thinks to take her to person who’s out to get Michael. Huh? These characters are smart and silly.

Wow

Just wow. The first book in this series was pretty good but this book blew me away. I loved every second of it! What a ride. If your are a bit skeptical of the series after the first book like I was. Be sure to give the sequel chance it was really well done. I look forward to more of the kingmen family in the future!

Cannot be put down

Martell continues the story of Michael adding more depth and mystery to everything you read in Kingdom of Liars. The writing and style is brilliant. The twists and many layers to the plot is outstanding. The last 300 pages are virtually impossible to put down. I just plowed through in a day. A must buy for those loving epic fantasy.
