About this listen

Filled with exciting tales of the frontier, the chronicle of the Sackett family is perhaps the crowning achievement of one of our greatest storytellers. In The Warrior's Path, L'Amour tells the story of Yance and Kin Sackett, two brothers who are the last hope of a young woman who faces a fate worse than death.

When Yance Sackett's sister-in-law is kidnapped, he and Kin race north from Carolina to find her. They arrive at a superstitious town rife with rumors, and learn that someone very powerful was behind Diana's disappearance.

To bring the culprit to justice, one brother must sail to the exotic West Indies. There, among pirates, cutthroats, and ruthless "businessmen", he will apply the skills he learned as a frontiersman to an unfamiliar world, a world where one false move means instant death.

What made the experience of listening to The Warrior's Path the most enjoyable?

I reisten (read by listening) to books during exercise sessions. Prefer this to music.

What other book might you compare The Warrior's Path to and why?

Part of the Sackett series. A continuation of the story told in Sackett's Land and To the Far Blue Mountains. Stands alone but better if read in sequence after the others.

What does Jonn Curless bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Did a good job with the voices of the characters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extreme reaction. Solid story by one of America's great story tellers.

My grandfather had a collection of the Louis L'Amour books and I remember his talking about them, telling me the stories. Later my father started reading the books and after my grandfather died my dad got his collection. Recently after my father passed I found the entire repository of western novels, I only wish I had listened to them sooner so I could share in the stories the way my son and I do with the Zanth, monster hunters, and wild cards. These are great stories with timeless values and wonderful lessons. I recommend sharing with the kids sooner rather than later.

Timeless books, great for families
