About this listen

They tried to tell him that his father had killed himself, but Kearney McRaven knew better. No matter what life had dealt him, his father would go down fighting. And as he delved deeper into the mystery, he learned that just before his father died, the elder McRaven had experienced a remarkable run of luck: he’d won nearly ten thousand dollars and the deed to a cattle ranch.

Not yet 18, Kearney was determined enough to track down his father’s murderer and claim what was rightfully his. Now, followed every step of the way by a shadowy figure, Kearney must solve the mystery of his father’s hidden past - a past that concealed a cold-blooded killer who would stop at nothing to keep a chilling secret.

I enjoyed this story very much. The story kept moving and held my interest immediately. The entire book was filled with such feelings and the descriptions of the places they went through and the explanation of the storms building etc just allowed you to feel you were there seeing everything that was happening!!

Excellent story of the old West!!

L’Amour has written another great, multi-dimensional story. His knowledge of literature, geography and nature is laced intrinsically in this captivating tale.

Louis L'AMOUR, western story teller, at his best. Probably very well researched - He rode of what he wrote.

In general I liked the story but it seemed some of the chapters were cut short.

Any additional comments?

My only problem was that Michael Crouch is a little too soft spoken, almost a whisper sometimes, although his performance was very good. I listen mostly in the car and need to rewind or adjust volume while driving sometimes.

Otherwise, it's a good listen.

Typical Louis Lamour novel. Excellent
