Amazing right up till the end

Stop reading now if you don’t want any spoilers. I was loving this book, it was exciting and riveting, right up till the end. I want to believe that Jesse is mostly innocent, a victim of sorts, and that John deserved what he got. Apparently, Natalie and Dave will believe anything anybody tells them and act upon it accordingly. First they believe Jesse but then, when John is dying, they believe him when he could be lying to save his life. The prologue is just strange when it comes to Darren. Apparently it’s a shame what happened to Darren, but we aren’t given this information. Was Jesse’s story the truth or not, considering his narrative was most of the book, if it was not true, what a waste of time. It’s a bit like gone girl, had I known how it would end I would probably not have wasted my time.

I didn’t hate it

I wouldn’t say it’s a waste of time. I enjoyed the book (although I did fall asleep listening to it more than I do other books). But what bothered me was the ending, it’s unresolved.

Confused and frustrated!

I listened to the ending several times, and was still so confused. I googled an exclamation of the ending. The author has a synopsis of the story and how he thinks the ending is interpreted but It’s up for the reader to decide. I don’t know. It seems a bit pedestrian to me. There are ways to shock a reader with a great twist at the end, but this wasn’t it. I’ve listened to several epilogues that left my jaw hanging open. This one just left me puzzled. No shock involved. By the time I understood what the ending was supposed to mean, I just didn’t care anymore.

Could not guess the ending

I liked that I did not guess the ending, but it was disturbing . There was an unknown persons identity in question at the end and I don’t know where he came from and how he fits
