Publisher's summary

When a tourist girl disappears on a vacation island - and the police investigation goes nowhere - 11-year-old local boy Billy Wheatley steps in to help.

He’s a little young to play detective, and he can’t tell anyone what he’s up to. But he's kind of a child prodigy, or at least, he thinks he is. Either way, he’s got a very good reason to want the police off his beach.

His style of investigation is unlike anything you’ve ever heard of before, but he gets results. Until the trail of clues leads uncomfortably close to home. Here, Billy begins to sense just how much danger he’s really in. And how the life he thought he was living hides a much darker truth. Because, the person who took the girl isn’t just someone he knows - it’s the only person he thought he could trust.

If Billy has any chance of bringing his adversary to justice - or even staying alive - he’s going to need every ounce of his unique ingenuity.

But how do you catch a killer when you're just a kid?

The Things You Find in Rockpools is the first in the USA and UK Amazon best-selling series with over 100,000 copies sold and thousands of international five-star reviews. Perfect for fans of L.J. Ross, Adam Croft, KL Slater, and anyone who loves a gripping and utterly engrossing crime thriller.

Would make a good Lifetime movie

If you like CSI and other crime shows, you will enjoy this book. It’s got a good twisty plot but it doesn’t require too much thought. Overall, it was a good little mystery for my drive to and from work.

Boring for first 3 hours

I almost quit listening through out the first 3 hours. It was boring and and drug on. Finally it started getting interesting. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen next another twist surprised me. I was sure I had predicted “who dunnit”. I intended to return the book but it was just good enough. I’m not sure I would recommend this book but I liked the ending.

Gratuitous final twist

I loved Dunnett's Little Ghosts, and I wanted to love this one, too. But unfortunately the final denouement feels sudden, forced and stereotypical, and it spoils the carefully build psychological persona of little Billy.
Gregg Dunnett does have a gift for penetrating a child's world.

It's just "so-so"....

I wasn't very impressed by the writing, and found myself annoyed that I was being read to by someone who sounds like a 12 year old. I don't mean that to sound hateful, but it honestly did annoy me. I had a hard time staying on track with this one, and while I think it has an interesting story line, and a good twist to it, it just seemed sorta "blank" to me.

Good book

Even though I had a hard time getting into this book at first, I eventually couldn’t stop listening. The most frustrating part is the narrator has a very young voice, which is because the book is written from a 11 year old point of view. I felt like I was listening to my 10 year old tell a story and at first it was just frustrating. If you can get past that, it’s really a good book and good story. Was really shocked by the ending.
