Publisher's summary

The reviled villainesses of Snow White, Cinderella, and Rapunzel team up to set the record straight in a subversively funny short story by the number one New York Times bestselling author of If I Stay.

Envious queen? Evil stepmother? Kidnapping hag? Elsinora, Gwendolyn, and Marguerite are through with warts-and-all tabloids, ugly lies, and the three ungrateful brats who pitted them against each other and the world. But maybe there’s more to the stories than even the Wickeds know. Is it time to finally get revenge? After all, they’re due for a happily-enough-ever-after. Even if they have to write it themselves.

The Wickeds is part of Faraway, a collection of retold fairy tales that take the happily-ever-after in daring new directions. Whether read or listened to in one sitting, prepare to be charmed, moved, enlightened, and frightened all over again.

Clever backstory!

Never really thought about what happened to the wicked queen/stepmother/etc after the princesses lived happily ever after! A clever concept, with a few unexpected twists!

Great short story...twists were wonderful!

This short story was definitely the flip side of three famous villains from fairy tales. I loved how the author slowly revealed their stories and the realities behind their situations. Really well written!

Quick entertainment

This is a very entertaining take on the Evil Stepmothers we all love to hate. A great listen while doing evening chores around the house.

Best of the Series

This was a funny take on the evil villains. As an adult, seeing the misogyny woven in fairy tales is disconcerting. Glad there was a “happily-enough-ever-after.”

The Other Side

This short story offers a glimpse at the other side of some classic fairytales. That being the perspective of the villain/villainess. There wasn't anything particularly shocking about it but it kept me engaged nonetheless. I didn't like the ending but it does leave things open for a possible sequel.

Alternate Fairly Tale

This was a short, sweet story about the three villains known as the Wickeds, a bit more about their backstory and what really happened. A nice revisionist history. The ending is left open for more. Nice narration in the audiobook. Wish it had been a bit longer and some revenge dished out instead.
