About this listen

At first glance I probably seem like any good-looking guy in their late twenties. I have an obscene amount of confidence, a tattooed body sculpted by the Nordic gods, and I love the ladies as much as they love me. If I'm not base jumping or car racing, I'm chasing other devious thrills with the woman of the week. And that's fine if you're the average single guy.

But I'm not the average single guy. I'm Crown Prince Magnus of Norway, and my latest scandal just landed my entire royal family in hot water. Now the only way the monarchy can save face is for me to smarten up - publicly. If I don't, I'll no longer be heir apparent to the throne. So it's either I abdicate my future role as King or...I get married. To a blue-blooded stranger.

Enter Princess Isabella of the tiny country of Liechtenstein. Quiet, intelligent, and uniquely beautiful, Ella doesn't like this arrangement any more than I do, and she's not afraid to show it. She says I'm a womanizer, that I don't take anything seriously, that my ego should be taken down a few pegs, and I think she aims to make me miserable for the rest of my life.

But even as our arranged marriage becomes a war of wit and words, I'm determined to break through Ella's prim and proper façade to find the wild, sexual, and risk-taking woman underneath. I want to uncover the Queen inside her. The only question is-will she let me?

Contains mature themes.

Enjoyable

This was a light sexy romance. I enjoyed the dialogue and chuckling through various situations. Jeremy York is always worth listening to so a very enjoyable book.

Don’t like the female voice

I’ve read many Karina Halle books and like her style of writing. However, this is my first audio book of hers and I am very disappointed in narration. It makes the dialogue sound awful. I didn’t care for the guy at first but he did grow on my and I can feel the emotion in his tone. I do not feel that way with Stephanie Wyles. She sounds a bit robotic and kinda annoying (sorry if that sounds harsh!) it just sounds very flat and kinda emotionless. I found myself wishing I had a readable copy.

I loved the story.

The audible book kept me entertained.
The narrative voice for Ella was a bit off for what I wanted to imagine. Jeremy York, narrator for Magnus, completely captured the whole story. He is always one of the best narrators that is convincing.

Loved it again!

This is my second time listening to this, and it won’t be my last. I love the growth of the characters, and I love how feisty the female character becomes. The story is good because it’s based on a royal family, so that is a nice change this author never disappoints.

good story but the performance not so much

I enjoyed the story but the female performer was annoying to me. I don't know what it was about her but it made it harder to enjoy.

Solid 4 stars

The wild heir really wasn’t that wild. Going into this book I was expecting a more egomaniac prince and a lot of angst. This was a surprise as the book was actually really sweet and romantic. It’s a slow slow burn too which is the reason for the 4 star rating. The narration is 4 star only because the characters are Norwegian and although I’m sure it’s difficult to do a Scandinavian accent, it would have been cool if the narration did.

Much Better than Book 1

Though a couple of the same negative traits from Book 1 were present, overall this was a fascinating tale of two unlikely and different parties both with jagged edges and difficulty fitting into society and their worlds finding a lovely whole.

I would have liked to have some more real follow-up of Viktor and Maggie. Maggie was completely absent and being able to witness her growth would have added continuity and connection.

Book 1 was for me just unbelievable and irritating and the characters, unlikeable and selfish. This book was a strong elevation with some varied and fun themes. The narration was also significantly less jarring in this book, A lesson not to give up on a a personally new author. After Book 1 I almost returned this one and it was a worthy read.
