Publisher's summary

I never believed in fairy-tales. Never held out for Prince Charming.

Growing up poor in small-town California as the oldest of six siblings, I knew I would never ride off into the sunset with anyone. That was even more apparent when a senseless tragedy took the lives of my parents, forcing me to become the sole guardian of our dysfunctional household at the mere age of 23.

Then a fateful encounter literally brought Prince Charming to my doorstep. At first I thought Viktor was just your average businessman passing through, albeit obscenely handsome, six-foot-five, blue-eyed, and mysteriously rich. But soon I discovered the truth behind Viktor's façade. Beneath his quiet, enigmatic gaze and cocky charm, is a man who is running away from who he really is. A role he'd rather not fulfill.

He is Viktor of House Nordin, His Royal Highness, The Crown Prince of Sweden.

Yet uncovering Viktor's secret was only the first step. I didn't expect to fall in love with him. I didn't expect to have my whole life turned upside down. When you're from two different worlds, can your hearts meet somewhere in the middle? Or do happily-ever-afters only exist in fairy-tales?

Contains mature themes.

Modern day Cinderella

Maggie and Viktor's story is a modern day Cinderella story, but with enough twists and spins to keep it from being a tired overplay. The prince is charming but a bit out of his element when he meets Maggie and her cart-full of baggage.
Stephanie Wyles was an amazing first-time narrator for me and I really enjoyed the snark she brought to the story. Jeremy York was great with the hint 9f an accent and made the naive but sweet prince loveable.

Cinderella retelling

It’s a cute twist on a Cinderella story. Nice prince meets small town American girl.
The story is well written and the spicy scenes are good. The only thing I can complain about is the descriptions of how Viktor looks, tall, tall, tall. It is repetitive. There is very little unique descriptions of the main characters. There is much more on the siblings of Maggie.
There is a theme of grief as several characters had recently lost family. The deaths are mentioned but not vividly described.

The readers did well, all the characters were easily distinguishable although Maggie sounded whiny/bratty in Viktors POV.

I wAS HOOKED!

I could not get enough of this flawless story! there were a few errors on the readers part where they missed a word, but no harm! and I liked the depth they gave the characters.
such a wonderful love story! and it helps that I love everything about Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark and the Netherlands. i cant wait to read more in this Nordic Royals series. wonderful book! found it initially on radish under "Royal Nanny" and had to seek it out to buy! and it did NEAT at ALL disappoint.

A little long and slow narration

I chose this book after reading others by the author. Compared to those (the Macgregor collection) I feel like it was a bit slow and the narrators were slightly juvenile. I also felt like it was unbalanced between the male and female perspective it almost could’ve been done completely from the female perspective. I was underwhelmed and I think I’ll take a break from this author for a bit. The plot was predictable no real surprises. And for such a long but I think she could’ve created more chemistry between the two characters.

This story is about a young woman who has taken control of her siblings after her parents were murdered. In walks a prince in hiding. He admires her strength and beauty for all she has sacrificed and falls in love. Real life problems start happening all around them some for her and some for him. The way they deal with it and the love they share are what makes this book worth reading.

Ok to pass some time

A cute story, Felt much longer than it was. Better narration would have helped it . The narration was stiff with a whiney childish feel.

K Hale is the best ;)

I have read two books by KH and have enjoyed them. So that’s how I ended up reading a prince and a commoner themed book when I’d normally pass on by. I am very glad I did take a chance on this book because it wasn’t cheesy!!! It was sweet a bit flowery here and there but it was very real and down to earth. It also did not have the freaky super dom male character Vic was just the right amount of man! Every woman deserves to be loved and made love to just like this. It also was not full of unnecessary drama and had lots of cute real life type moments w/ Mag’s fam, I love little ‘Damion’ he was absolutely enduring. Maybe hopefully KH will right a book for the crazy adorable little guy when he grows up!!! This is getting book-marked for a re-read!! I hope you buy it and enjoy it too. I’m reading Wild Heir next ....

Royal Romance With A Fun Twist

I enjoyed both the story and the narration more the second time around.
I felt like the characters were flushed out well and the spice was so hot!
There is just something about a royal romance that is just so fun!
