About this listen

Fans of the Shannara epic will revel as the forces of good battle an evil book, the Ildatch, which sends the Mord Wraiths to destroy mankind. To overcome this dark force, the Druid Allanon needs Brin Ohmsford, for she holds the power of the wishsong, a magic invoked by singing that can make plants bloom instantly or turn trees from green to autumn gold.

As Brin reluctantly joins Allanon on his dangerous journey, a prophecy foretells an evil plan to trap the unsuspecting Brin into a fate more horrible than death. But she has the help of her brother, Jair, and the protection of Rone Leah, who takes his job very seriously, as the comic rustics, Weapons Master Garet Jax and Slanter the gnome, leaven the fantasy.

This is a great book. I wish I had heard the other 2 books unabridged (Sword of Shannara and Elfstones of Shannara). Hope they get more unabridged books for this series.

This book shows us that the bonds of a family can get through more than one would think possible.

Plot is much like the rest of his longer books, but still captivating, if you liked one you will more than likely enjoy The Wishsong as well.

it's been 25 years since I first read this book in print. Now 25 years later listening to the audiobook held the same amount of Fascination intrigued and interest that I recall when I was just a teenager the first time I read it. I truly enjoyed Terry Brooks method of writing rather not maybe not so much method as his style but it's very fascinating intriguing and his description and detail is is fantastic the level of imagination he must have to be able to create the such wonderful images in my mind as I read is amazing I truly hope that other people can enjoy this book as I have and I will continue to read through the rest of the series as I did 25 years ago.

What other book might you compare The Wishsong of Shannara to and why?

I see bits and pieces of a lot of different books in this one. Pern, Eragon, LOR, Hobbit, and etc..., Really thought he did a nice job of putting all the races on the same playing field.

What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?

Scott is a natural and always look at what he has done recently. I know if he is reading it I will listen to it. Might not always be the best story line but he can make a bad story line better.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The power of a love between a brother and sister.

Best book of the Three, very enjoyable
