About this listen

From apocalypse…

An act of terrorism unleashed an unspeakable biological weapon…and hell on earth. But as the masses felled by a hideous virus rose from the dead to prey on the living, a small band of survivors defied death and its ghastly spawn - determined to outrun the world’s end, and somehow begin again.

To Armageddon…

But beyond the undead-besieged shores of Europe lies something closer to damnation than salvation. Rescued from certain death at sea, the young Spanish lawyer, the beautiful woman he loves, and his brash, battle-hardened best friend - who have weathered the worst of the unnatural disaster - find themselves delivered from a world of horror into a stronghold of hate. In a United States ravaged by the Zombie plague and overrun by the undead, only Gulfport, Mississippi, offers sanctuary…for a price: Subservience to a fascist dictator and his brutal enforcers. But their reign of terror will soon be challenged. By rebels hungry for vengeance, and invaders bent on conquest.

Excellent & surprising final adventure!

The first was a slow start with a great build up and end that made you rush for book two. Then as in most cases book series book two does fall kinda short.

But this final book, WOW! Sucked me right back in after the minor let down of book two. Unexpected enemies and an adventure completely unpredictable even as you’re listening and the scenes and players are set coupled with a moment towards the end if you’ve read the series will bring a tear.

I highly recommend this finale to anyone that felt slightly disappointed by book two and weary of the final book like I was.

Great ride and really enjoyed this series as a whole.

Good story

Over all a good story. Went a little sideways, the ending could have been a bit better. left a lot open to add new stories within it.

Enter the "Reverend".

What remains of our group encounters a new problem. Believing they were being rescued by the military they found themselves prisoners in a town controlled by a religious fanatic, his guards being escaped convicts. The leader, the “Reverend”, was not only religiously twisted, but also a devout racist and chauvinist. Did I miss any redeeming traits? The story chronicles our group’s efforts to survive and escape this new torture they found themselves in. The infected or undead seem to be going through some changes as well. I’ll have to leave that up to you to discover. Amongst all this madness yet another terror came calling. North Koreans had invaded the territory and were on a quest for oil and supplies. They found much more than they bargained for. You are in for an exciting conclusion to the trilogy to be sure.

Underrated series

This whole series is quite good. I feel like it isn't getting the attention it deserves. A man with a cat bonds with a group of survivors to fight off evil, both human and zombie. Very fun adventure here and the narrator is fabulous!

Excellent conclusion

All three audio books were great. I really cared about the characters and generally felt sadden when died. The end to this trilogy was satisfying with the expected survivors making it. The only I didn't like the time jump at the end. I mean did they let the rest of the hellouts die? I doubt there was enough to share but maybe that's something that can be explored in a follow during the six year time jump.

Gripping till the end.

I enjoyed all three books. He hooked me from the beginning and ran a gripping story all the way to the end.

jumped the shark

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed the first two books in the series, but this one just went a bit too far. The addition of North Korea, not to mention the insanely over the top caricatures of the white suppresses was just a bit too far. Seriously those characters felt like they'd be ripped from a B movie, which would be fine if the entire series had had that kind of feel, but all the other characters in the previous books were more fleshed out, more multi-dimensional. They just felt totally fake. Shame that the series had to end on a sour note.

Despite being disappointed with the story, Nick Podehl once again delivers a wonderful performance.

An enjoyable zombie apocalypse story

I read the three books in this series one after the other without a break. I thought I was a bit burnt out on zombie apocalypse stories however this one held my attention. Yes there are many reviews by readers who were not happy with book 3. And there were a couple areas in book 3 that I quickly skimmed over as I did not feel the need to hang on each written word. Due only to my personal issues, not a reflection on the author or story at all. That being said, I also was curious how the story would end, and was pleased. If I reveal why I was pleased it may give away the ending. I would like to say I was thoroughly impressed with the narrator who has a gift for accents, leaving no doubt who was speaking at the moment. I enjoyed how the series started out narrated strictly from the protagonists journal and personally felt the change from the journal was seamless. I don't critique books as an editor should, I get wrapped up in the characters and the stories told throughout. I would highly recommend this series to readers who enjoy the PA genre, if you are tired of zombie stories, give this one a try and you may be pleasantly surprised as I was.

Great finish to a good trilogy.

This was a pretty good series. I thought book one was descent(i was trying to get use to the characters and the narrator) , book 2 was good and book three was great. If your looking for a zombie series this would be a good bet.
