About this listen

Vacationing in Scotland, schoolteacher Elizabeth “Elle” Darcy anticipates picturesque landscapes, castles of old and kilt-wearing charmers, not awakening in someone else's body. Worse, that someone just married enigmatic billionaire Callen Bruce. Though that’s not the biggest problem. To the rest of the world, her new “husband” runs an elite empire. But behind his public persona, he’s a king of berserkers locked in an ancient, supernatural war with wolf-shifters.

Determined to reclaim her normal life, Elle will do anything necessary to switch back with Callen’s real wife. First, she must ditch the disciplined warrior. An impossibility when he refuses to relinquish the bride chosen for him by fate, even though he despises her. Or does he? The growing heat in his eyes says otherwise. Not that it matters. There’s no way this temporary queen will fall for the moody, broody secretive warrior who belongs to another woman. Nope. Not Elle. Not ever. Probably.

It took me a while to get into the story because of the stilted way that the voice actress spoke. Other than that great story.

Need a new actress

The story was good and all, the ending not so much. Narrator was robotic and bland.

Good story, bad narrator

Great story, but the narrator sounded so much older than a 27 year old. Definitely sounds like Scottish was better than the English accent.

Great story, old sounding narrator

This was good for the most part but the ending was way too rushed and it felt like a lack of conclusion. The ending really was not executed well.

Good but…

I thought the story was good and overall liked it. However, I am used to Gena showalter novels so I feel like this must be a Jill Monroe novel. I was frustrated because I'm used to a kick-ass woman who takes charge and I felt like she was not that kind of a person. she was passive throughout the book in my opinion. I'm used to knowing what the male character is thinking and feeling and you didn't get that in this book. In Gena's books they work together to fix the problem and I didn't get that in this book even at the end so that was a bit frustrating. I felt like it was well written and it was interesting it just wasn't a Gena Showalter novel and I love her personalities of her heros and heroines and these characters so it was a disappointing.

disappointed

I have loved Gena Showalter’s books for so many years and thought this one would be no different. The story was just so slow moving and could not seem to grip my attention as they normally do.

Slightly disappointed

The narrator paused every two or three words, in the weirdest places. She was painful to hear. The story was not very well written, and if these authors had mentioned their mystery book series one more time, I might've crushed my earbuds to avoid hearing any more. This was a horrible listen.

Terrible narrator
