Story
The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
The book of Enoch was thought to be lost for over 2,000 years until, in 1773, a traveller brought three copies back from Ethiopia. Whether or not this ancient book was actually authored by Enoch, the father of Methuselah and great-grandfather of Noah, is an ongoing debate among historians and theologians. But all recognise the book of Enoch as one of the most important apocalyptic works outside of the Bible.

Story
Just before Christmas in 1843, a debt-ridden and dispirited Charles Dickens wrote a small book he hoped would keep his creditors at bay. His publisher turned it down, so Dickens used what little money he had to put out A Christmas Carol himself. He worried it might be the end of his career as a novelist. The book immediately caused a sensation. And it breathed new life into a holiday that had fallen into disfavor, undermined by lingering Puritanism and the cold modernity of the Industrial Revolution.

Story
In the Upanishads, illumined sages share flashes of insight, the results of their investigation into consciousness itself. In extraordinary visions, they experience directly a transcendent Reality which is the essence, or Self, of each created being. They teach that each of us, each Self, is eternal, deathless, one with the power that created the universe.

Story
"All knowledge that the world has ever received comes from the mind...” in the quest for understanding one’s own mind, body, and soul, and to attain liberation, each man seeks spirituality as per his own means and understanding. Yoga, with its origin dating back to ancient India, has always been considered a pathway of achieving moksha. This edition combines the four paths of yoga as expounded by Swami Vivekananda in the nineteenth century.

Excellent: The Science of Mind
My Licensing as a Science of Mind Practitioner was helpful, but within the Yoga Sutras abides the true Science of Mind. It is impossible to approach the physical Yogic postures without balancing the mind. It is also impossible to approach daily life postures (experiences) without balancing the mind. The narration of these Sutras is a true gem.

I felt so at peace listening to this.
Loved this book. Couldn't put it down. It's the combination of the commentaries and the sanskrit. Absolutely awesome.

BEST Yoga Sutras Choice!
Sri Swami Satchidananda is so good at distilling and simplifying the Yoga Sutras in his commentaries. No one seems to understand the very Soul of this 3'000+ text the way Sri Satchidananda does. I even bought the pocket size paperback edition of his Yoga Sutras. The translation is accurate, and his commentary explains the more difficult concepts to grasp, especially for the Westerners most likely to be reading or listening to this.
I've listened to a few Yoga Sutras audiobooks before, and listened to a good bit of commentary as well. Many hours of it. But this is truly the best choice for anyone seriously interested in a REAL understanding of Yoga. Couldn't be happier with this purchase!

A Must Read!!!
This book will allow you to gain understanding of questions regarding Spirit, mind, and body alignment. I meditate in this book and the Bible. Both allow me to walk in truth daily. I only wish that I would have been introduced a lot sooner. I am thankful for the discovery in this season.

Exactly what I needed
This recording of the Yoga Sutras is an exemplary rendition of a complicated text. It includes authentic reading of the titles, astute commentary, and a very fine narrator. This is how ALL interpretations of these ancient Indian texts should be presented. You might notice I panned (and returned) another recording with the exact same title, so don't confuse the two. THIS is the one you want!

Great content, but accent could have been better
Patanjali answers most of the questions i have been asking myself for many years. Wish the narrator could pronounce Sanskrit without an english accent which takes away the enjoyment of hearing.
