Publisher's summary

Being Zen(ish) is what we call it - and it’s the ish that we endorse!

Teresa Palmer and Sarah Wright Olsen, two moms from opposite sides of the world, are doing their best to raise happy, empathetic children while working, traveling, and maintaining their sanity. With seven kids between them, the founders of the much-loved Your Zen Mama blog know as well as anyone that motherhood doesn’t exist in the highlight reel of life, and that finding even a fleeting semblance of calm among the epic ebbs and flows of parenting is usually all you can hope for.

Forget perfection and prepare to get real, vulnerable, and dirty (mostly from guacamole) with Sarah and Teresa as they share knowledge they’ve collected over the years, from the Your Zen Mama community and expert mentors, as well as being in the trenches of parenthood themselves.

In The Zen Mama Guide to Finding Your Rhythm in Pregnancy, Birth, and Beyond, you’ll find:

  • Important questions to ask and decisions to make before and during pregnancy
  • Essential guidance from a woman’s point of view for conception, pregnancy, and childbirth
  • Nutritional and dietary advice to support the complete health of both mother and baby
  • Practical education about the mother’s body before, after, and during pregnancy
  • Science-based methods to promote a mother’s healthy body and mind
  • Expert advice from medical professionals, chiropractors, and pediatricians
  • Engaging, accessible advice for every step of the? newborn’s journey
  • Suggestions and tips for creating a birthing plan
  • Comforting language to address fertility challenges, pregnancy loss, and complicated labor
  • Access to the Your Zen Mama resource guide

Whether it’s dealing with fertility challenges or pregnancy loss, riding out a long and complicated labor, or juggling multiple kids (and work!), these mamas have been through it - and have written this book to help you find your own glimpses of Zen along the way.

The “Lonely Planet” Guide to pregnancy, birth, and parenting!

What a wonderful audiobook! I loved how the authors read their book, it was such a fun experience! I work in the medical profession and only know what we do in the hospital. I’m very happy that these ladies endorse standing up for yourself and your choices in regards to your birthing process. I also loved the, “beyond” chapters because these are all things a lot of other pregnancy books don’t talk about. I hope they write more books together! One about birth and one about parenting! I highly recommend this book. I bought the hard copy too because of all the references they talked about. Enjoy!

Must read for anyone starting to or thinking about having a baby

This was so good and informative I am going to buy the hard copy! Listened to it on the way to work, while doing laundry, before I went to bed, and I couldn’t stop listening. The only book I was able to listen to in just a mere 2 days.

Amazing Book

These mamas did amazing job with this book. Every detail was thought out. Their openness and willingness to share was so brave. Talking about topics rarely discussed was inspirational and heartwarming. I’ve been listening to this book on audible while I’ve cleaning, folding laundry, and organizing a nursery for our first grandchild a girl “Bella” (Due in May!) I remember so many of these moments they shared like it was yesterday. I can also relate to the hard to talk about topics of fertility, doing IVF (chasing my poor husband down), and also pregnancy loss. Our last being just 6 years ago an ectopic pregnancy which lead to an emergency surgery followed three months later with a hysterectomy. They covered each subject with absolute grace. Some moments even emotional, for the simple fact of hearing someone else talk about something you went through but didn’t talk about. Their voices for the audio version was very pleasant. They spoke very well, actually, there was a since of calm in their voices as they spoke. I could listen to them for hours and I did. I’ve enjoyed this book so much. I shared it with my pregnant daughter as well. Thank you so much for writing this incredible book. I hope everyone who reads it feels as heard and understood as I do. Great job mamas!

Eye-opening and comprehensive guide to pregnancy and beyond

I learned a lot about it since I’m still not a momma and feel a lot more prepared for when the time actually comes.
