About this listen

Emily Klein doesn’t know she has killed her husband until the day of his funeral.

At first, signs point to a tragic accident. Yet, as Emily pieces together the events before his death - events which led to her own memory loss - she begins to suspect that her husband’s death may have been the result of more than a terrible twist of fate....

But the accident is only the beginning. Because while Emily’s physical scars will heal, the trauma of the accident has awakened old ghosts. She hears strange sounds, catches things that can’t possibly be there in the corner of her eye. Before long, everywhere she looks, she seems to see her husband.

And suddenly, Emily finds herself asking the most dangerous question of all.

Can she really trust herself?

Critic reviews

"[A] scorchingly good thriller." (Lisa Hall, best-selling author of mega-hit Between You and Me)

"With twists and turns that will wrong-foot you all the way, a dash of dark humour and a strong emotional punch, this is an excellent debut that more than earns its place within the genre." (S. J. I. Holliday, author of Black Wood)

HOW COULD YOU EVER TRUST ANYONE ENOUGH TO MARRY THEM AFTER A CHILD HOOD LIKE THAT.
WHERE WAS THE MOTHER WHEN HER DAUGHTERS NEED HER ? WAS THE MOTHER THE REAL VICTIM OR WAS SHE IN DENIAL ?
I KEPT WAITING FOR A CONFRONTATION BETWEEN THE DAUGHTERS AND THEIR MOTHER, BUT NO , IT KEPT ROLLING ALONG LIKE NOTHING REALLY HAPPENED. .COULDN'T THAT LEAVE BOTH DAUGHTERS NUTS.

WHAT A ROUGH LIFE FOR A GIRL !

I enjoyed the last part...the start of the book is quite boring for me. The narration is a good tho.

Great!...but,...

If this was a book it definitely would be a page turner. Audio versions are just as good. Narrator did an excellent job in keeping my attention, I couldn't stop listening. A worthy book in anyone's library. 😀😀😀

A page turner indeed

I thought the overall story was pretty good but predictable. I could not keep all the male characters straight and I thought the narrating was not good at all!!!

Good overall story

The story was actually nice, I found the characters likeable.
However I guessed pretty much the entire plot a third of the way through.
It was still an enjoyable story but sometimes I even said out loud with the book the name of the guilty characters.

I didn’t care much for the narrator, she was a bit robotic and didn’t change intonations much.

Quite predictable

The so-called ‘twist’ at the the end was no twist. You can figure this one out in the first hour, saving yourself about seven more. I really dislike books that are needlessly overly-wordy, as well as stories with leading characters who cannot see what is right in front of them because they are so
utterly dense! This book checked both of those negative boxes for me.

I did a lot of eye rolling during this one.
