Introducing the saga of the Cactus Kid, the first time in one volume!

Louis L'Amour's lost tale of his legendary hero, the Cactus Kid, was serialized as a series of novelettes in the western magazines of the 1950s. Now, for the first time ever, his three novelettes, previously published separately, have been gathered into one audiobook, a thrill-a-minute adventure as the Kid rides into danger and romance.

He will have to think fast and shoot faster to survive. But how many battles can a peace-loving cowpoke survive, when half the gunmen in the Old West are waiting to contest the range against him?

A quick and easy listen

This is my first Louis L’amour book.

It was an easy listen. The story was simple and with a hint of humour.

The narrator did a great job too.

More fun than a six gun

In the vast expanse of the American frontier, where the land stretched as far as the eye could see and danger lurked behind every tumbleweed, Louis L'Amour's timeless tales of adventure and honor found their fertile ground. Among the countless sagas penned by this literary luminary, one figure stands out as a true embodiment of grit, cunning, and the indomitable spirit of the Wild West - the Cactus Kid. And now, dear listener, prepare to embark on a journey that will transport you straight into the heart of this enigmatic gunslinger's world, through the expert narration of Randal Schaffer in the audiobook "Three Bullets for the Cactus Kid."

In this meticulously crafted audiobook, L'Amour's three novelettes come together in a symphony of words and sounds that celebrate the essence of the Old West. The Cactus Kid, a name whispered in awe and trepidation, comes alive through the masterful storytelling prowess of Louis L'Amour. Randal Schaffer's narration casts a spell that weaves its way into your consciousness, his voice carrying the weight of history and the untamed spirit of the frontier. As you listen, you'll feel the sun's relentless heat on your skin, taste the grit of dust in your mouth, and sense the tension that lingers in the air before a showdown.

As the stories unfold, you're drawn into the world of the Cactus Kid, a gunslinger who can outdraw and outwit even the deadliest of foes. His pistol skills are legendary, a symphony of precision and speed that echoes through the canyons and ghost towns. Yet, as the tales reveal, even the mightiest have their Achilles' heel. The Cactus Kid, with all his prowess, grapples with a vulnerability that humanizes him and adds depth to his character. It's a paradox that resonates with the human experience: strength entwined with fragility, resilience against the backdrop of vulnerability.

Louis L'Amour's ability to transport readers to the heart of the Wild West has been well-documented through his extensive body of work, spanning novels and short stories that paint a vivid tapestry of the frontier's landscapes, its people, and their struggles. However, the Cactus Kid's tales stand out in their uniqueness. Serialized in the magazines of the 1950s, these novelettes remain a hidden treasure trove, waiting to be discovered by modern audiences. This audiobook, a labor of love and preservation, does justice to L'Amour's legacy by presenting these three gems in a seamless narrative that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The true beauty of "Three Bullets for the Cactus Kid" lies not only in the captivating stories themselves but also in the rich production that elevates the experience. With a full cast that brings each character to life, stirring music that tugs at your heartstrings, and authentic sound effects that immerse you in the world of hooves and gunshots, you're not merely listening to an audiobook; you're witnessing the Wild West unfold before your very ears.

Amidst the thundering hooves and echoing gunshots, there's a story of love that intertwines with the gun smoke. The Cactus Kid, tough and unyielding, finds himself bending to the will of his fiancée's whims. Her desire for real bouquets of flowers, an innocent wish that turns the Kid's world on its head, propels him into the crosshairs of danger. In a land where outlaws are as common as cacti and bullets fly as frequently as tumbleweeds, the Cactus Kid faces a trial that tests not only his pistol skills but also the strength of his resolve.

In the tradition of Louis L'Amour's finest works, "Three Bullets for the Cactus Kid" captures the essence of honor, adventure, and the relentless pursuit of justice. It stands as a testament to L'Amour's ability to craft stories that transcend time and genre, stories that resonate with the core of the human spirit. So, saddle up, dear listener, and embark on this thrilling audiobook journey. Let the tales of the Cactus Kid remind you that even in the harshest of landscapes, where danger lies around every corner, courage and tenacity can prevail, and heroes can be found in the most unexpected places.

entertaining and intriguing

Several short stories and edge of your seat action and drama staring the Cactus Kid as the hero!!!! I liked watching this young man with integrity weld his way through evil in the old west. I really got caught up in all of the action and stories. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job.

Only one complaint - not long enough!

Brilliantly written in typical Louis L'Amour fashion! Mr. Schaffer did a wonderful job narrating as well. I will search out more of his audiobooks as he is a pleasure to listen to and does not detract from the story.
