About this listen

Fans of Katie MacAlister and Terry Spear will love this sexy enemies-to-lovers, paranormal romance about a gorgeous billionaire and a vengeful heroine from the New York Times best-selling author of Wolf's Mate.

Jaguar shifter Stella Moore has one thing on her mind - to take down the anti-shifter organization that destroyed her family. Her plans are going perfectly until a sexy-as-sin stranger throws off her game and decides the only way they can both avoid getting caught is to claim her as his girlfriend. Wait! What? Now she has to fly to a tropical island and play along because the alternative is...deadly.

Most people know Cole Turner as an uber-wealthy playboy - not as a tiger shifter who's part of a special ops team to protect his kind. Now his undercover mission has been compromised by a redheaded bombshell, and every animal instinct he has is screaming mate. To survive among so many enemies, they'll have to keep up their romantic act, find their intel... and absolutely not fall in love along the way.

🌻A decent story, more PG Than R!🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas 🌻🌻🌻🌻

The story, overall, is entertaining, however, the main conflict is not resolved by the end of the book. I have a feeling that this conflict is consistent during the entire series and the true resolution won’t happen until the last book.

I bought this book, on sale, and it was worth the $4.99 I spent. With that being said, this is not anything like a Suzanne Wright or Kym Grooso shifter novel. For those listeners that complain about the graphic and frequent sex scenes, in these authors’ books, this series will likely be exactly what you’re looking for. There was only one real sexual encounter and it doesn’t occur until the last fourth, of the book.

The narration was good but, it wasn’t the powerful performance of a Jim Frangione or Ryan west.

what just happened

I have finished the story and can say that I do not remember much before the last few chapters. I am not sure if it was the story itself or the narrator. I love shifters. I love seeing them navigate relationship building. I remember them meeting at a party neither really seemed to want to be at. One was there for information and the other there for vengeance.

Jaguar shifter Stella Moore and tiger shifter/special ops Cole Turner finds themselves fighting for their lives. Surviving an enemy only to find that the enemy may just be the special unit they are working for. I really wish I could remember more.

Campy - but runs long and is a huge tease

“A game of cat and mouse… or rather big cat and crunchy human.”
On the plus side, this started great with feisty Jaguar shifter and billionaire/secret shifter agent Cole getting their missions tangled. This promised fun, action and chemistry.

“A woman after his bomb loving heart.”
And this sort of delivered on all of those things, just spread out across an overly long book that repeated the same scenes. The scene where they get caught somewhere they shouldn’t be and pretend to be a couple. The scene where they start making out and get interrupted. The scene where the bad guy utters dastardly lines and then doesn’t get killed.

“Operation Kill the A Hole”
On the downside, for a book with a chesty cover, there’s a single on-the-tame-end sex scene 8 hrs into this 10 hour book. There’s also zero resolution to the anti-shifter plot. I was mildly disappointed at the lack of strong women; all women are frail, nasty, or at best (like Serene) feisty. This felt a bit like a book written in the 90s.

Still, this was fun enough that I’ve wishlisted other books by this author and will bite as they go on sale.
There are also some books currently free in Audible Plus, so I’ll see if the author’s newer works improve.
