About this listen

Have you made the leap yet from working a J-O-B for someone else to working at home (or from anywhere) for yourself?

If you are already running your own business and want to crank up your productivity, the strategies in this book can help you with that.

If you are just getting ready to make this dream happen for yourself, these time management and productivity techniques are going to be a critical catalyst for your success!

I know what it feels like to be spinning your wheels and staring at incomplete to-do lists day after day in frustration, feeling overwhelmed at everything that needs to be done.

It wasn't until I finally made the commitment to conquer procrastination once and for all, that I easily achieved my dream of location independence months later. In fact, this book was published from an island in the south of Thailand.

Whether your goals are to travel the world and work from anywhere or to run a successful business from home to allow you to spend more time with your family, time management is the critical piece that can help you to achieve that success.

I enjoyed hearing from another entrepreneur about some of the daily Applications and virtual resources that can help with daily tasks. The narrator did a great job in keeping my interests.

simply the things I learned from it was sticky notes ,whiteboard, if you won't do it in 10 seconds you won't do it.

Quick, effective, inspiring. I like how the book gives you a to-do list for every chapter. I plan to buy a physical copy so that I can highlight these sections and put them to work!

perfect for implementing immediate change

Any additional comments?

The content itself is very repeating. The author goes over the same concept (pretty simple at that) over and over. For example, she would start with the statement like physical clutter will reduce your productivity - and then it will go into a 5-7 min over-explanation why with many repeating examples.
I understand the need to pad the book a little, but I felt this was done too much, almost making it unbearable. Trying to find useful tips was like looking for a needle in a haystack.

In addition the reader was also slow, like reading the book to a kindergarten class.

My advice: know your audience and cut to the chase, I would rather this be a 1 hour audio book full of useful advice and tips vs. 4 hours of the same stuff just worded differently and repeated over and over.

Disappointed with this book

I actually found myself taking notes during the whole thing. I was planning on multitasking, but there's a section on that too lol 😂 Jessica's writing is relatable and very clearly spelled out. Gwendolyns narration is thoughtful and soothing. I would recommend.

Really good

The content of this book is very basic. If you are running a business I hope you are past this level. On the other hand it could easily be applied for the less organized person new to the office atmosphere.

Really basic stuff

This book is based solely off the opinions of what worked for the author. There is no actual scientific basis on what she is doing and why. Some of the things she uses as foundations are completely just, but she has no idea why. For instance, she is very passionate about getting an ergonomic chair for comfort and back support. Claiming that if your back hurts you will be less productive and lose time. Yes, an ergonomic chair is great, but it’s great because it aligns your body, allowing your neural system to work as designed, as well as your cardiovascular system. Meaning, an ergonomic chair increases blood flow to the brain allowing you to focus better and your neural system will be more in tune to provide better focus as well, increasing productivity. Not just to be comfortable. And if you really want to get in depth, one could argue that by using a non ergonomic chair to induce stress, is the intent so that persons peak performance level, based on the Yerkes-Dodson Law.

That is just one example and there are countless others like that throughout the book. Opinions of how to improve time management based on her opinions and not scholarly or scientific data. I teach time management and have been studying it for almost two decades. Some points she makes are valid and should definitely be used regardless of the person, such as the Kiyomeru principle. This principle is described, however, she is unaware that she is describing it, saying to have a clean and organized work environment is not the same as understanding the principle behind it.

Sadly, most of the things presented will not work for everyone. This book is not written for the masses to succeed, but written to show one person’s opinion on what worked for them.

Opinions on time management are not time management.
