Publisher's summary

For Libby Cord and her best friend, cop Greg Rose, it’s like old times again in the Upstate New York town of Cooper’s Crossing when Deborah Woodward returns with her English husband, Clive, to open a bed-and-breakfast.

The three of them had gone through school together before going their separate ways, and now, here they are in the same place again. What could be better?

Quite a bit, as it turns out.

Clive seems intent on alienating everyone in town, from the chief of police to Greg’s gentle wife, Mary. So, no one is really surprised, or even all that sorry, when he turns up dead at the local office supply store, a six-inch-long letter opener protruding from his back.

When the murder investigation stalls due to lack of evidence, Libby decides to take matters into her own hands. But, when so many people have a motive for murder, how can she ever narrow the field of suspects? And does anybody really want her to?

interesting

Clive certainly wasn't a likable fellow and everyone in the town had a reason to not like the man. I didn't guess who the villain was, but they certainly weren't taking any prisoners at the end of the story. Jealousy is such a vile thing!!! I did break down when Greg was professing his real feelings to Libby at the end. The save the day moment came from the least likely source at the end. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job.

Great Mystery

I enjoyed this murder mystery with some humour. I liked the characters and their connections. The nosey neighbours in a small town knows everybody's business. The main character Libbey and her lifetime best friend Greg continue to find themselves in tricky situations.

The narrator Dini Steyn did a great job with bringing the characters to life.

Very enjoyable mystery story!

To kill a Mocking Brit by DP Hewitt has all the elements I love in a mystery. There is solid mystery, good writing and interesting, believable and relatable characters (I once got a vacuum cleaner for a bday, not a frying pan). There were poignant and comedic parts of the mystery story that involves love, hate and jealousy. The narration by Dini Steyn was also very good. I spent college upstate NY so many of the real places in the book are familiar, but I pronounce them differently. I really hope there will be more in the series!

A well written mystery that keeps you guessing

I enjoyed this book. It is a well written mystery. The ending surprised me. I agree with another reviewer. The names of the New York towns are pronounced differetly by those of us who have lived there.

The narration was excellent. I would listen to more books by this author and narrator.

I was given this book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Death and Jealousy

To Kill a Mocking Brit is a very intriguing story that had ne hooked from the very beginning because it was well written with an engrossing storyline. The characters are well written and truly relatable. Clive the most hated man in town is killed but by who and why. There are so many suspects to even consider as much as I love suspense I had a hard time trying to figure it out because everyone had legitimate reasons. The end when the killer is revealed truly shocked me because that is when the truth reared itself to the forefront. I loved all the twist and turns and because of that I highly recommend this book.
I received a copy of this book for free but I am voluntarily leaving this honest unbiased review because it is truly an amazing book.

A Fantastic Delightful Cosy Mystery!

Clive was a bit cantankerous on a good day. Unfortunately for the residents of Cooper’s Crossing, lately, Clive didn’t have very many good days. So, when he turned up dead in the basement of a local business, it would have been easier to list who wasn’t a suspect. To Kill a Mocking Brit is a delightfully written, beautifully narrated mystery that is clever, entertaining, and full of small town charm. This one kept me guessing until the final moments of the story. I thought I had it figured out, but nope, I was wrong. You got me! Five stars!
