About this listen

After getting unfairly downsized, Tommy meets April, the girl of his dreams, when she accidentally runs his bicycle off the road. They seem made for each other. But when he over-indulges in taking prescription medication for a cycling injury, he comes down with an unusual condition for a man - yeast infection.

Tommy has to choose between hiding his embarrassing situation to prepare for a big race, or coming clean with April to grow their budding relationship. The dilemma threatens to derail not only his new romance, but also his once in a lifetime shot at making it to the pros.

Biking for Love

Would you consider the audio edition of Tommy Has a Yeast Infection for Males to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version but I do think that an Audio book gives the listener a better representation of what the author intended as a literary experience.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked Tommy, and all the things he had to go through in hiding his ailment, going to a support group, even the embarasment in the pharmacy.

Which character – as performed by Lee Saunders – was your favorite?

In this particular audio book, Lee Saunders only performed the narrator role.

If you could take any character from Tommy Has a Yeast Infection for Males out to dinner, who would it be and why?

April, for sure. She's very supportive, a real "ride or die" type chick.

Fun to listen to, an overall very good audio-book

If you could sum up Tommy Has a Yeast Infection for Males in three words, what would they be?

disclaimer: in exchange for my review, I received a free copy of the audio book.

-Fun
-Multiple voice cast
-Romantic comedy

Who was your favorite character and why?

April was my favorite character, maybe because she's the girl and I could identify with her. I loved the voice actress, she was endearing and the color of her voice very pleasant to listen to.

What about Lee Saunders’s performance did you like?

It took me some time to warm up to him, I am more used to narrations that are more relaxed; he had a bit too much energy for my taste but as the story progressed I got used to it.
I loved his English accent, it's nice to have a contrast with the other voices and his diction is very clear.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The pharmacy scene had my heart drop, I felt so embarrassed for Tommy but at the same time I couldn't stop laughing.

Any additional comments?

This audio-book needs big thumbs up for using a multiple cast for the characters; it's really nice to hear each character come to life with different voices, it really adds a dimension to the book and the acting throughout was good enough that I was really taken by the story.

It would have been even better with additional sound effects, I would have loved to hear the dog for example.

Overall it was a very enjoyable book to listen to, I would definitely listen to other books by this author.

Be warned that there is some colorful language in places, you may not want to listen to this with young children around.
