About this listen

The media has a nickname for Marnie Baranuik, though she'd rather they didn't; they call her the Great White Shark, a rare dual-talented forensic psychic. Twice-Touched by the Blue Sense - which gives her the ability to feel the emotions of others, and read impressions left behind on objects - Marnie also has a doctorate in preternatural biology and a working knowledge of the dark arts. She is considered without peer in the psychic community.

Then her first big FBI case ended with a bullet in one shoulder and a chip on the other, a queasy heart and a serial killer in the wind, leaving her a public flop and a private wreck. When the FBI's preternatural crimes unit tracks her down at a remote mountain lodge for her insight on a local case, her quiet retirement is promptly besieged by a stab-happy starlet, a rampaging ghoul, and a vampire-hunting jackass in tight Wranglers. Marnie figures the only real mystery is which one will kill her first.

Too mean to die young, backed up by friends in cold places, and running with a mouth as demure as a cannon's blast, Marnie Baranuik is about to discover that there's no such thing as quitting time when you're Touched.

It is hard to find a vampire series that is not geared completely towards the YA audience. This was a perfect cure. The quirky relationships that involve love, devotion, confusion are just deep enough to be fun, goofy and suspenseful. The narrator is awesome.

LOVE THIS

I had never read anything by A. J. Aalto, however, I have fallen in love with this book. Marnie's snark and witty repartee had laughs bubbling out of me. Great book! Amy McFadden really made this book come to life. I have purchased many books narrated by her! I highly recommend. 5+ stars!

Best Narration Ever 🌟🌟🌟 🌟🌟

All of the characters in this book are constantly and unbelievably horny, like they can't go five minutes without thinking or talking about how much they want to bone the main character and how she wants to bone everyone else. There's also a minor subplot about vampires and magic or something.

I've read this series a couple of times and it continues to be one of my favorites. This book is full of such ridiculous and funny characters that I burst out laughing at the gym. I love the world Aalto built and the characters are memorable. This series is good those that don't take themselves too seriously or want a break from the repetitive format of fantasy novels.
Marnie isn't a perfect / chosen one and I think that's what makes her so special.

Hilarious and Thrilling

This is not just another cut and paste paranormal book and is fast paced enough to keep you wanting more. The story line is well defined and easy to follow with some surprising twists and unexpected moments. Just as you think you know what’s going to happen next, your pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed the dynamics of the main love interests and the whole story was well written.#magicalsystems,#vampires,#urbanfantasy,#provocative,#magical,#tagsgiving,#sweepstakes

I have listened to this 3 times over the past few years (I listen again before a new title) and I laugh out loud over and over every time. The narrator is awesome, the story is interesting and the dialogue cracks me up. People around me no doubt think I’m a loon when I burst into giggles while sitting alone at my desk. Can’t wait for the next!

Love this series!!

I mostly enjoyed the story and the narrator was fabulous. However, there are so many references to the main character’s last case. I figured I must have missed the first book, so I stopped. I went to Audible, and this is listed as book one. I searched google; this is book one. A lot happened in this missing prequel. A romance and breakup, a serial killer, a life threatening attack, and it’s all referenced as if the reader already knows about it. Confusing and super annoying. I’m going to read book two and decide if I want to continue.

Did I miss something?
