Informing and arming yourself with knowledge is all too critical for those suffering under a narcissist because, as you may have observed, the narcissist will often assert their reality onto you. This can cloud your judgment and make it easy to forget what is normal and healthy behavior. Take a deep breath. If you feel guilty or at fault, it’s only the narcissist’s voice talking in your head.

Story
Codependency is a relationship in which one person needs to rely on others for self-worth or approval. This relationship can cause anxiety or shame that keeps one from focusing on one’s own needs and desires. It can also lead one to feel entitled and jealous when the codependent partner doesn’t share some priority they perceive themselves to have in their life. Codependency can be characterized by having an attitude of “shoulding” on another person. Communicating this self-perceived problem can lead to an improved relationship between the two people involved.

Since it is a disorder and NPD is not normal, you may wonder why it exists in the first place. There is no exact cause for NPD that has been determined yet. There are various factors that contribute to it and may lead to the development of this disorder in any individual. It can be genetic or develop due to various experiences the individual has gone through. Psychological factors contribute to it in a major way. The causes of NPD are a complex matter, just like the causes of any other mental health disorders.

Eye-Opening and Validating
I had a gut feeling something was off in my relationship, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. This book helped me see things clearly and made me realize I wasn’t imagining the emotional distance I felt. It was validating and, honestly, a bit painful to read at times, but in the best way—it confirmed what I needed to know. If you’ve ever felt unseen or unappreciated in your relationship, this is a must-read.

Exposes all the red flags!
This bundle is fantastic! Both of these books did a fantastic job of exposing red flags in parents, friends, significant others and the like. I don’t necessarily like focusing on the ugly side of life, but the truth is that sometimes people are ugly, and that comes with toxic behavior. Knowing what it is, how it manifests, and how to protect yourself is key, and that’s exactly what I feel like Kara Lawrence does in her toxic relationship bundle. So grateful for her efforts in writing this book, and I look forward to see what she puts out next!
