About this listen

Move over James Bond - you've just met your match!

Hays Baker and his wife, Lizbeth, possess super-human strength, exceptional intelligence, stunning looks, a sex life to die for, and two beautiful children. Of course they do - they're Elites, endowed at birth with the most advanced genetic enhancements available. Elites are the pinnacle of evolution; the triumph of man's ambitions. The only problem in their perfect world are the humans! And their toys!

Now comes the most unbelievable shock of Hays Baker's life. Suddenly he's on the other side of the gun, experiencing a life he'd never dreamed possible - and fighting to save humans everywhere from extinction. And not only that. Hays and Lizbeth just might lose their perfect family.

James Patterson's Toys is a thriller on a hyper plane, with a hero to rival both Bond and Jason Bourne.

Very entertaining!

While it could have been more detailed and there was a few overly campy moments, it keeps a fast pace and very interesting plot and while it may be similiar to stories like Blade Runner and Total Recall, it is original and unpredictable enough to keep it entertaining from start to finish.

Worth the read

As with every James Patterson book, once you get into it, it is hard to put it down. Looking forward to the next book.

Please note, I am not a regular Patterson reader.

What did you love best about Toys?

I loved the performance, but I also liked the story. I am not a regular Patterson reader.. this is actually the first book I've tried. I can honestly say, I wouldn't have picked it up if it wasn't for the narrator.. but I am very glad I did; based on reviews I wasn't expecting a very decent story and I was happily disappointed on that front. I found it very entertaining.

If you’ve listened to books by James Patterson and Neil McMahon before, how does this one compare?

Again, I have nothing to compare it to.. although because of the excerpt from the new Women's Murder Club book at the end I am going to probably try those next.

What about Matthew Bomer’s performance did you like?

The more appropriate question would be what DIDN'T I like? Matt Bomer needs to read all of the books.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I could have if I would have had the time to do so. There were parts that were definitely more exciting than others, but it was a good story.

Any additional comments?

I gave this book a shot and I am very happy I did. Matt Bomer's narration is EXCELLENT and the story is easy to get into. If you're on the fence, give it a try! :)

Toys by James Patterson Review

What made the experience of listening to Toys the most enjoyable?

I like the voice actor that was cast.

What other book might you compare Toys to and why?

Honestly, Toys is unlike any other book I've ever read.

What about Matthew Bomer’s performance did you like?

He has a nice voice that fit the story and characters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I wouldn't say that I had an extreme reaction to this book, but it is definitely one of my favorites.

A Good and Easy Listen!

Even though this story is different for a Patterson novel and runs along the Sci-Fi category, I really liked it! I thought the narrator really did a good job. All in all I thought this one was a good and entertaining thriller.

Incredible Read

Almost killed myself listening to this book by Patterson.. Listen on my Ipod going to and from Cincinnati -- got so zoned out listening to it that I almost went off the road.

Highly recommend this book!

First time disappointed with JP

Was surprised at how bad this book was.. Not just for JP, but any author. Both the thought and idea were there, but it smacks of first time writing without editor help on plot. More dues ex moments than I could handle, especially since the guy is supposed to be like a super hero.
