About this listen

Psychologist Cary Taylor’s life just isn’t what it used to be. She dreads her job and no longer finds it exciting. Her family barely spends more than a few minutes together in the same room. She and her husband are drifting apart, and their 15-year-old daughter has developed an attitude.

When Cary discovers her daughter is pregnant by a boy from the wrong side of the tracks — and he is the son of one of her clients — her already out-of-control life suddenly gets more complicated.

Cary’s never imagined having a relationship with a client beyond the 50-minute hour, much less someone so different from her. Cary must come to terms with her own fears if she is going to salvage her already rocky relationship with her daughter — and piece their family back together.

Told from the perspectives of both mothers and the young couple, Trailer Baby gives us a refreshingly honest, yet uplifting story of hope and healing, and how the heart can open up to love.

Entertaining fluff

Listening to this audiobook was relaxing while I engaged in other activities around the house.
The audio was poorly edited - somewhat frequently the narrator would stumble over words, say "beep," and repeat the preceding phrase properly. Depending on my mood, this was funny, or slightly annoying - you'll need to decide for yourself!

awful

This narrator ruined this book for me. Between audibly swallowing and sounding as though she has mucus in her throat I had to stop listening halfway through. It was so bad that I just wanted her to drink some water.

Worst Narration EVER

The narrator was the worst I have ever heard. Her inflection was awful and she made almost every sentence sound cheerful even when it should have been serious. There were long pauses between sentences, so much so that it sounded like it was going to be a new chapter. There were DOZENS of times where you hear her screw up a line and then say the word "beep" and repeat the same line. Twice she had coughing fits. Clearly nobody edited this recording. It's really, really terrible.
The story had potential that wasn't realized. Some of the plot lines were super thin. Most of the story was unrealistic and flimsy in the way it was put together. It was the classic "wrong side of the tracks" kind of story but very poorly written.
Overall this was a waste of a credit.
