About this listen

The locals in Tinker’s Cove are busy planning haunted-house parties and ghostly galas, and Lucy Stone is whipping up orange-frosted cupcakes, recycling tutus for her daughters’ costumes, helping her son with his pre-teen rebellion, and breast-feeding her brand-new baby. But amid the fun, something really scary is going on: An arsonist is loose, and when the latest fire claims the life of the owner of the town’s oldest house, arson turns into murder.

While the townsfolk work to transform a dilapidated mansion into a haunted house for the All-Ghouls festival, the hunt for the culprit heats up. Trick-or-treat turns deadly as digging in all the wrong places puts Lucy too close to a shocking discovery that could send all her best-laid plans up in smoke.

Anxious for the release of Mail Order Murder

I enjoyed reading the first few Lucy Stone Mysteries. Can't wait to hear Mail Order Murder and English Tea Mystery. I will be watching for their release on audiobooks.

Great small-town Halloween story.
Loved the main character and her thoughts about her family.

Now this is more like it!

After a serious departure in the last book, the series lands firmly back in the cozy mystery genre with this one. Lucy's husband is back to being his usual affable self and the townsfolk are all there with their quirky ways. We get to meet the new baby and Lucy isn't sexually assaulted by anyone in this book, which is a nice change. What kept me from giving the story 5 stars is the last hour or so. Lucy makes a really stupid decision for very little discernable reason and it nearly costs her life. Then, amid some contrived circumstances that never get explained, she makes an even more stupid decision and nearly dies again. This really, really annoyed me. That said, the series seems to hit its stride again and is firmly back in cozy mystery territory, which is a huge relief. I wasn't sure if I'd continue with it after the last book, but I'm glad I gave it another try.

Can’t finish it

I am a mom and when I read the last thing I want to hear about is the boring details of daily mom life. Lugging the baby back and forth, arguments with children, body shaming, bored mother and wife acting as detective to solve the small town murder, the gossip, I get this enough in my daily life and do not need to read about it. Sorry, just not for me.

Not for Me

It seemed like an ok cozy read until the breast feeding became detailed. It wasn't necessary.
