Scarred. Hopeless. Lost.
Alexa Cross leaves Los Angeles with a scarred heart, beat-up car, and a secret. She's ready to move on and leave her past behind, but fate has had a way of knocking her right back down. Marooned in the middle of nowhere, she imagines misfortune has dealt its final blow, but this time, destiny seems to have a different plan when she ends up in a place aptly called The Last Resort.
Reassembling shattered lives is what innately sexy, bar owner Zane Abbamonte does best, and it rarely ends well for him. When he sees a woman stranded on the side of the road, desperate and alone, the otherwise irascible biker rescues her without hesitation, but Zane harbors secrets of his own. When Alexa begins to uncover the truth about Zane, the weight of her past comes crashing back. Her instincts say, "Run!" but her heart tells her to stay.
Glimpsing the chance for a future together, Zane and Alexa must confront their "ghosts" and navigate through their fears. Will The Last Resort be the end of their encounter or the beginning of everything they desire?

Her car breaks down and is rescued by a bar owner. things turn out well for for her. And all is well. I love to read books that are sweet and lovely.

Loved this story! It's a sweet tale of Zane and Alexa, who are both great people but have been dealt a lot of crap in their lives. Zane picks up a sobbing Alexa, whose been stranded over 3 hrs on the side of the road, and gives her a ride into town. He (a little high handedly) gets her to wait tables for him in his bar and the banter and fun begins.
If I had one complaint about this book, it's that I wish it were longer! These were such likable characters with an entertaining cast of secondary characters that I just feel like I want to hang around with them a little more.
Nicely done, enjoyable listen!

What did you love best about True North?
I like beach reads. What did you like best about this story?
Jake. I like his character. I like he is a good guy. What didn’t you like about Olga Wilhelmine’s performance?
This is her first audiobook. She has the voice for it but she doesn't have the timing down. I fell asleep a lot while listening to this. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes.Story was enjoyable.

What did you love best about True North?
Zane, I loved his alpha male, biker, bar owner self.Have you listened to any of Olga Wilhelmine’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This was my first audio book by Olga Wilhelmine and I thought she did a wonderful job. It is hard to find someone, male or female, that can do a good job at varying the different voices, especially the opposite sex. Olga did great at both male and female voices.Any additional comments?
I love Kelly Collins other books so much and I was excited to read this one. I am sad to say I didn't love it as much as her others. I am not opposed to insta-love and moving too fast but some of the things that happened and were said really annoyed me.This is a sweet story and Zane is definitely a hot male lead. Who doesn't love a biker that owns a bar and appears totally alpha male but then has a super sweet side that Alexa had the wrong assumptions about. Both characters are strong people who have had a rough life up until they found each other.

3.5 starsReally enjoyable quick, light, sweet story. An entertaining short listen with a HEA.
A second chance at love. Just when you don't expect it everything falls into place.
Really good lead characters. Zane is a stand-up honorable guy whose life has recently been turned upside down for a very lovable reason. Alexis has had her self worth and confidence destroyed by her ex-husband. The attraction is almost immediate but it takes a bit before they explore this attraction. Once they do sparks fly. Zane knows what he wants, now he needs to convince Alexis she is where she belongs.
The narration is done by Olga Wihelmine. This is the first time I have heard her narration of a book. She did a really good job, although there is not really any difference between her female and male voices. Clearly spoken. Nice voice, easy on the ears. I would definitely listen to more books she narrates.
Audio sounds hollow and you can hear the recording crackling in the background at times in the beginning. At the start of chapter 2 the sound is different and I didn't notice it anymore.

Finding yourself on the side if the road

This story started off with the female protagonist leaving her home after a nasty divorce and heading out there somewhere, to start over. Her car breaks down, no cell phone and.................................in swoops the hero. He has as many secrets as she does.
I felt the whole plot was rushed to get to the end, with some sweet and tear jerky moments thrown in to make it interesting.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed.
