Good series

I have enjoyed this series and hope for more...as long as they are all narrated by the great Rosalyn Landor. This was a pretty good view of PTSD for a romance novel. Felt for Icarus so much. My only question is why not do the brandy, valerian, reading BEFORE the nightmare. I suffer from nightmares and I know it might have worked to keep them completely at bay. But I guess that would have ruined the intimacy of the main characters. I recommend the entire series. Loved seeing Lady Ware from book 2 ... all pregnant.

Well-written, well-developed characters

Eventhough I'm not one who enjoys fantastical books, I've really enjoyed each book in this Baleful Godmother series. This book is no exception. Emily Larkin is truly a masterful storyteller and she is just as masterful at merging the fantastical and the reality into one great story. EL is just as masterful at creating characters who are real and likeable...mostly likeable. I've noticed a pattern in EL's books. There is always one character who you want to slap...or kick in the a** . Isarus Reid is that character in this book. Throughout the whole book I kept saying to myself....get over it Reid....you're a soldier....a Major for pity's sake. But, his being tormented by his torture and his being driven to find the culprit who betrayed him and his men is the basis for this story. The other characters were strong and empathetic and the perfect foil for Reid's frailties. Great book and excellent narration.
