Publisher's summary

Lex

They've taken my girl. My little bird.

I'll do whatever it takes to get her back, even if it means I have to level this city to the ground. They've woken the monster, and I'll be damn sure my face is the last one they see before I send them all to hell.

Wren

Beaten. Bruised. Broken.

They want me weak and submissive, but they've underestimated me. I'm no damsel. They've taken me from Lex, and I know he'll do everything to get me back. After all, I'm the queen of this city, and my rightful place is next to the king.

It's time to end this war.

Twisted King is the second and final book in the Twisted City Duet. It cannot be listened to as a stand-alone.

A dark, dangerous, and deliciously sinful mafia romance.

Overall a good story, great performances!

Overall a good story. I really enjoyed the strong female character. There were some unfinished story lines and maybe that’ll be in another book. The ending left some unanswered questions. The narrators performance were top notch, as always, from Lucy and Joe. Love these 2 working together.

Lucy and Joe + An Amazing Story = 🥵

The performance from Lucy and Joe add to an already amazing story. Plus hearing “it really f’ing helps” at the end is also enough for a review.

Addictively Twisted Conclusion

Book 2 of the Twisted City Duet you must read/listen to book 1, Little Bird, first.

We pick up right where we left off at the end of Little Bird. Chaos is raining down on Lex & Wren and in the middle of it all, they are separated.

Wren holds strong in her captivity while Lex burns the whole world to ash and does whatever he has to do to get her back.

This installment has a lot more triggering content as compared to the first book. Be aware and be prepared.

Again, the audiobook is performed by Joe Arden and Lucy Rivers. The emotions both of these artists bring to their portrayals of these characters is heartbreaking. While in the darkest of moments in the book, you can feel their pain, anger, torment and desperation. Once reunited and trying to move forward, the anguish that is felt before acceptance and determination, before healing and recovery, it's all so gripping you don't want to stop listening. Strap in and wade through it, because there is an HEA to be had, they (and we along with them) just have get there and embrace it.

I requested and was provided with an advanced copy of the audiobook. These are my honest opinions.

I loved it!

The second book in this series held up! We were left hanging when Wren was taken away from Lex by her father Valentine! We pick up right where we left off and everything happens pretty quickly!

I will say that is one thing I really enjoyed about this book we’re the quick chapters and how fast pace the duet was!

Now, on to the narrators! I freaking love them, Joe is my all time favorite male narrator and the things he growls in this book will make your heart beat faster!! And I love Lucy Rivers, I’ve loved her since I first listened to the Collector Series by SMB! She has such a good male voice and she’s dramatic and lovely! I love them both!

Amazing ending to the duet

What an amazing ending to this duet. Joe Arden and Lucy Rivers killed it in both books. They did such a phenomenal job of bringing Wren and Lex's story to life. Wren was his Little Bird and Lex became Wren's Twisted King. He would do absolutely anything to save his Little Bird and not think twice about the consequences.

I loved how these two characters started out with so much hate and anger towards each other but in the end they were the person needed to complete the other. The strength that Wren showed by the end of this book was outstanding. She grew so much throughout this duet and I loved it. The first half of this book was extremely stressful but I knew it would all work out in the end. I was a bit excited to see how Wren and Lex would obtain their vengeance. It was done perfectly.

This duet are the first books by this author that I have experienced and I am really excited to read more of her work. These stories are full of love while also interwoven with some darkness. Perfectly balanced in my opinion.

Joe Arden. Enough said...

Tropes:
❣️ Dark Romance
❣️ Found Family
❣️ Mafia-esque
❣️ Kidnapping
❣️ S** Trafficking

Holy molyyyyy!! I was not expecting trafficking to be part of this book. Let alone that Wren’s father was involved in it. That completely threw me for a loop but it made the story so much better for Lex’s mission to get Wren back.

This book was wayyyy spicier than the first one and I am NOT MAD ABOUT IT lol

The chemistry that Joe Arden and Lucy Rivers had was INCREDIBLE! It made the whole audiobook that much better!

The trauma that Wren has to go through is so painful. And the helplessness that Lex feels not being able to help her is just as painful. Joe did an amazing job getting us to feel the pain the Lex was feeling and had us hooked on every last word he said throughout the entire book.

Lex and Wren are meant to be together and it’s so crazy how Ria Wilde accomplishes this through the book. Let alone how amazing Lucy’s portrayal of Wren is in the audiobook. Wren comes out of it as more of a badass than anything and learns to be herself in the process and Lucy’s voice really got us to feel like she grew so much from book one to now!

“Let me love you little bird…” - Lex (Joe Arden)

“You’re a valentine Wren.” - Lex (Joe Arden)
“No I’m not. I am a f*cken Silver.” - Wren (Lucy Rivers)

Ria Wilde did such a great job at showing character growth with both Wren and Lex and had me falling in love with their love all over again. The narration was AMAZING and really hit me in the feels. This completes the Twisted Duet, but you bet your ass that I’ll be picking up all of the other books in this world ❣️
