About this listen

Remo Falcone is beyond redemption.

As Capo of the Camorra he rules with a brutal hand over his territory - a territory the Chicago Outfit breached.

Now Remo is out for retribution.

A wedding is sacred, stealing a bride sacrilegious.

Serafina is the niece of the Boss of the Outfit, and her hand has been promised in marriage for years, but kidnapped in her wedding dress on her way to church by Remo, Serafina quickly realizes that she can’t hope for saving. Yet, even in the hands of the cruelest man she knows, she is determined to cling to her pride, and Remo soon understands that the woman at his mercy might not be as easy to break as he thought.

A ruthless man on a quest to destroy the Outfit by breaking someone they are supposed to protect.

A woman intent on bringing a monster to his knees.

Two families that will never be the same.

The female narrator almost ruined this. She couldn’t settle on any pronunciations, so she used them all. Sometimes the character was Ree-mo. Sometimes it was Ray-mo. Sometimes she rolled her R’s like she was in Spanish 101. She also pronounced Nino about three different ways, but really seemed to favor the Spanish pronunciation like El Niño. The characters are Italian Madia, not Spanish.

Horrible Female Narrator

THIS IS MY FAVORITE CAMORRA SERIES BOOK. Yes you have to really be into morally grey, if not black men to love Remo.

Remo kidnaps Serafina on her wedding day. She is the niece of the Outfit’s boss (a rival mafia family). Remo gives Serafina the choice he only gives to women and she surprises him by picking the one he least expected. That is when he recognizes something in her.

Remo is the cruelest man she’s ever met and she intends to play his game and bring him to his knees, at least that was the point before the lines got blurred.

Repectfully... after catching up on Dante's book (born in blood series: Bound by the past) I seriously thought Serafina was just batshit crazy but After hearing Her POV. she deserves happiness. these mafia stories are addicting as hell and I'm here for it!!

Respect Serafina's decision.

Cora Reilly’s “Twisted” series and “Bound” series have me totally hooked!! Make sure you read the Bound series first, then the Twisted series. There are recurring characters throughout, so while a book may focus on a particular character or couple, we also get to hear what is going on with other characters that we are already familiar with. SPOILER ALERT: In Twisted Pride, we finally hear the story of Serafina’s kidnapping and captivity from HER perspective. What’s fascinating is that her story differs almost completely from the version her family has constructed for themselves, based on the few facts they have. Wow...just wow. Serafina’s story certainly challenges the family’s expectations of female purity at marriage, and exposes the shaming/blaming (even from loved ones) often associated with sexual assault. She is left with very limited options, none of which has any resemblance to her previous hopes and dreams. END OF SPOILER.
I recommend all of the books in these two series! Ms. Reilly, how about another series covering the next phase in the lives of these fascinating mob families??!!

Addicted to Cora Reilly’s Mafia Stories!

Wow! Great story and excellent narration. This one held my attention all the way through. I didn’t want the story of Remo and Fina to end. Great spice!!

My favorite so far!

I went into this book with a mix of curiosity and skepticism. Remo has been a character I wasn’t entirely sold on in the earlier books—he rubbed me the wrong way in Twisted Loyalties, and while Twisted Emotions started to change my mind, I still wasn’t sure how much I’d actually like him in his own book. But I have to say, Twisted Pride genuinely surprised me.

The first half was a bit slow for my taste. The push and pull between Remo and Serafina took time to fully grab me, and I wasn’t sure where their dynamic was headed. But once I hit the 50% mark? I was hooked. Couldn’t put it down.

Serafina’s character was a standout for me. She’s strong, resilient, and doesn’t break under pressure—even when she’s held captive by one of the most feared men in the mafia world. And Remo? This book gave him so much more depth. He wasn’t just the ruthless, intimidating enforcer I expected; there were layers to him that made him more compelling and, dare I say, likable.

As for the audiobook, Tor Thom and Charley Ongel absolutely delivered. Their dual narration brought so much emotion and intensity to the story. They nailed the tension, the chemistry, and the raw emotions between the characters, making the listening experience even more immersive.

Overall, while the pacing in the first half slowed me down, the second half completely made up for it. Twisted Pride ended up being an emotional, and well-narrated listen that I’m really glad I gave a chance.

I don’t like the narrator, she is over dramatic 😳. I hope the next book doesn’t have her in it.
