About this listen

Addie Heywood thought she was doing okay after her fiance dumped her just weeks before their wedding, claiming he'd found someone else more compatible with his health food tastes. But when he marries the other woman three months later, Addie needs to get away.

Leaving her home in Idaho, she escapes to Mitchel Creek, Georgia, to visit her Aunt Janie. She just wants to spend the next two weeks enjoying her aunt's southern cooking, not dodging the guys her aunt is determined to set her up with.

Chase Nichols isn't looking for love. His dream is to trade his computer mouse for his guitar and make it big in the country music world. If he can land a job in Nashville, he might have a shot at getting discovered. His plans get derailed when he does his neighbor a favor and picks up her niece Addie at the airport. Things get even more complicated when his ex-girlfriend comes back into the picture. That's when he hatches a new plan.

Since Addie wants to avoid her aunt's matchmaking schemes, and he wants to avoid his ex-girlfriend, they'll fool the world by pretending to date. What neither of them counts on is actually falling in love.

Cheesy but sweet

I'm a sucker for a good romance, even if it's a little cheesy. This is a sweet love story and I appreciate the purity and godly references. The way it should be.

Clean/wholesome HEA

If you are looking for something light and not really all that deep, then this is one I would recommend.

The first thing I look for when selecting a romance these days is if it’s “clean”. That means “no spice” or only eluded to “behind closed door” at most. Kissing is okay and this book has kissing aplenty.

contains spoilers…

Our MFC, Addie is a sweets loving sweetheart. She lives at home with her father whom she adores. But, due to his advanced age she worries about leaving him alone for extended periods of time. This may lead you to believe that our MFC is a middle aged woman, but that isn’t the case at all. She was actually a very late addition to her parent’s lives and has a much older sister whose own children are closer to her age.

Addie finds herself at a “crossroads” in her life. Her fiancé just broke off their engagement for another woman, leaving her with a broken heart and questions as to where to go from here.

Her dream is to open her own photography studio so she enters a photography contest and packs her bags to fly across country to stay a short while with her Aunt.
Aunt Janie lives in an older home that has always fascinated Addie. Addies’s goal is to find the perfect spot to shoot what hopefully ends up being the winning photo there.

Our MMC, Chase is a sweet southern gentleman whose mother raised him right. He checks all the boxes ladies; handsome, charismatic, charming and chivalrous.

Chase is at a crossroads of his own. His dreams of making it big as a country music singer seem to be going no where and he is stuck working as a graphic designer at a local business owned by a hard man, who happens to be the father of his unhinged, conniving ex.
While Chase struggles to see his dreams come to fruition he also has to deal with the here and now reality of working at a job or rather for a man he strongly dislikes.

So when these two meet upon her arrival at the airport, the interest is instantaneous. And as Chase and Addie get to know one another, sparks quickly begin ignite between the two. It doesn’t take long for them to decide they are “it” for each other. But, navigating their blossoming relationship will be harder than they thought.

As Chase and Addie evaluate their commitments, responsibilities, and circumstances beyond their control, they conclude that any relationship they may have, will have to be conducted at a distance. This conclusion is further hammered home when Addie calls to check on her father and doesn’t get an answer. But don’t count them out just yet…
The story wraps up pretty quickly and as one would expect, we get our HEA.

Characters are very bland

The main male character is too willing to be manipulated for the sake of his dream. He will let an ex dictate his life ( since he works for her dad) so he can make connections. The female is whining about her ex-fiancee and not trusting anyone but agrees to be a fake girlfriend. Then is surprised that he wants more. I've got hours into this book and can't finish it.
