About this listen

One kiss can change everything.

Fun and flirty Monica Stevens lives for chocolate, fashion, and boys...in that order. And she doesn't take life too seriously, especially when it comes to dating. When a night of innocent banter with Seattle's hottest NFL quarterback turns passionate, she fears that everything she once managed to protect will soon be destroyed.

Seattle's most eligible bachelor, Zachary Ryan, is a workaholic by nature, an undercover entrepreneur, and passionate about the organizations he supports. He's also addicted to Monica, the curvy brunette with a sassy mouth - and not just because she tastes like strawberries and chocolate. She's as challenging as she is decadent, as witty as she is charming, and she's the perfect distraction from the daily grind.

While Monica comes to a crossroads in her life, Zachary becomes an unavoidable obstacle, forcing her to stop hiding under the bleachers and confront the demons of her past. But as their connection grows stronger, she knows it only brings them closer to their end.

It's time to let go.

To have a future, we must first deal with our pasts. But what if the two are connected?

4.5 "QB" Stars

I was very fond of the other books in the BelleCurve Series and was eager to finally read Zachary and Maggie’s story! Under the Bleachers was so good to experience in audiobook!

This romance was sweet and lovely! Zachary is a star quarterback, but such a good guy under all this confidence he oozes. He finds an interest in Monica, and while she’s reticent to embark on a relationship with him, he keeps pushing his point that they would make an amazing pair. Monica has trust issues with men since her father abandon their family and she sees that Zachary is different, but her old demons all always near.

The shared moments between those two are simply magical and so romantic. It’s clear that Zachary is one of the good ones. While their romance evolves into something more, they realize that they're linked in more ways than they first thought.

I got all the spectrum of emotions listening to the exquisite interpretation of the narrators. Maggie’s tone of voice wasn’t quite fitting for her personality in my opinion, nonetheless I was eventually captured by all the passion pouring from the interpreter’s performance.

K.K. Allen never misses a chance create addicting, heartfelt stories! I highly recommend this sweet romance that will get to you deeply!

Sweet Pastries & Ball Sports!

Under The Bleachers is a stellar sports romance. I absolutely loved it. Monica Stevens and Zachary Ryan are compelling and resilient characters. I absolutely love the fun banter between these two. A sugary sweet romance, sensual moments, a bit of sports, a secret, plenty of suspense & a bombshell twist braided together into one scrumptiously ambrosial.
Told in due POV with alternating between the past and the present. This writing style perfectly fits the genre and creates a well crafted story. I found the going back & fourth between the past and the present highly intriguing. I love the title references through out the book. Perfect title for this suspenseful sports romance.

The duet narration done by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross is flawlessly done. These two are able to capture all the hot blooded moments in a way that the characters leap off the page and come to life. The undeniable chemistry between Monica and Zach is shined through the narration.

Mmm chocolate and cake

First off, if you've read Up in the Treehouse, you should definitely read this one! If you haven't, still read it! It stands on it's own two feet just fine. I was blessed with an advanced copy, so I'll let you know my thoughts a bit early.

K.k. Allen's way of writing is different from any other. Even the apparent villains in her books have a reason for being the way they are (though not all are revealed to the reader) She has the ability to show the story from every angle, so that you can truly understand, and relate to each character.

I loved Monica in Treehouse, and I was thrilled to learn that she was getting some star treatment! She's a fun loving chicky, with so much to offer, and not a clue what she really wants from her life. This story follows her, past and present, as she stumbles, and is caught by Zack, a star quarterback.

Monica has some deep trust issues, so she scrambles away, every time she gains her footing, only to stumble again. She struggles to keep herself from getting hurt, and is less than successful, until she can learn to trust someone besides herself.

These characters are deeply human, and they act and react from the heart. You will laugh with them, you'll cry with them, and you'll find yourself with a strong craving for chocolate cake.

Audio: The voice talents for this book are amazing! Both are easy on the ears but the reader of Zack’s part had a particularly beautiful voice. They made this my absolute favorite audiobook!

Great Book

Under the Bleachers by K.K. Allen was a great read. I absolutely loved reading Zachary and Monica’s story. Zach and Monica came together due to a fundraiser and although they don’t seem to ever be in the same place. They are exactly what each other needs. They are a couple that you root for and wish would get on the same page. This was a great read that I recommend to everyone.

One kiss can change Everything

"Sometimes life offers you second chances in ways you don't expect."

This is a book about second chances, forgiveness, letting go of the past and opening yourself to new opportunities.

I really love the chemistry between Monica and Zach the banter, the sweet and the raw parts between them is what makes thisa good story.

The only thing of the 4 strars instead of 5 is because there was one point that Monica's pushing and pushing Zach got tirening and even though I understand what happened to her and why she is weary of opening herself I reach the point where I wanted to shake her and make her see reason...

Zachary is the sweetest and comprehensive man he was always there for Monica always supporting and patience with her, I simply fall in love with him.

The narrattion was really great making the book more enjoyable,.

K.K Allen is a new author to me, being this the first book I read of hers but surely it won't be my last.(less)

Loved it!

After a recommendation of this author, I was eager to give this story a listen. A sports romance, we meet Zach, quarterback of a professional football team. He is interested in Monica, though no matter how hard he tries, he cannot seem to break her walls down, though he can see that she wants him to. What he doesn't know is her past, and how he plays a part in it. This story has a lot of components in it, not just your typical contemporary romance. Tying in a painful past, with many unanswered questions, Monica's complex character is intriguing. To have a man like Zach in the mix of it all, coaxing, loving, and even hurt and angry gave the story a little angst, a slow burn and the window she needed to get her life in order. She is not your typical heroine trying to work out a bad relationship, but she carries a lot of weight on her shoulders and hides from her past. The answers she finally gets are not expected, and for me created a really wonderful story. I will definitely look for more by KK Allen.

To have this story brought to life by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross is a pure treat. Given the role of Monica, Kai had to revel in pain and indecision, as well as love and passion. You can feel that all through her performance. Wen as Zach portrays frustration, love and understanding with that little chuckle that always brings a smile to my face. The combination of the two is magic.

Enjoyable, but I didn't love the heroine

Overall I enjoyed Under the Bleachers, but I found the heroine, Monica, too hot and cold throughout the book to really love it. As much as I sympathized with her and her past heartbreak, I found myself continually frustrated and annoyed by her behavior. It was such a contrast to the hero, Zach, who was beyond patient with all of her back and forth. He did make a few mistakes along the way and jumped to a few conclusions, but he just seemed to put in so much more effort than Monica.

The book started off a bit slow for me and it took a while before I really got into it. The time jumps were a great way to reveal things piece by piece and to progress the story, but they were also a bit confusing and didn't always flow very well. There were a few times I had to relisten/check that I didn't miss something. The other woman drama and all the back and forth between Monica and Zach dragged this story out unnecessarily. I thought the twist in the story was good though and helped really drive home all of Monica's fears and insecurities.

I love duet style narration and Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross never disappoint. Their amazing chemistry really shined during the more playful scenes between Monica and Zach. A chapter from Monica's past really stood out to me not only for the significance to the plot, but also because of the particularly emotional performance by Kai Kennicott. Under the Bleachers was entertaining, but I didn't love it. The book is part of an interconnected series, but it can be enjoyed as a standalone.

Enjoyed

Zachary was a star quarterback in the NFL. Monica had a trust issue because her dad was a football player and he had left her, her sister and her mom for another woman. Zachary was a client of the place where Monica worked. They both used the bleachers to protect themselves growing up. Wen and Kai took my breath away narrating this one. Excellent!
