A Lifesaver's Guide to Thrive with Type 2 Diabetes
"Understanding Type 2 Diabetes" is an invaluable audiobook that shines a bright light on this prevalent health condition. I personally do not suffer from it, but have a family member who does. I wanted to listen to see if I could gather more information to help support this family member, and this audiobook did not disappoint in that regard! Dr. Ashley is the “real deal”, she certainly has enough letters after her name to be trustworthy on this topic (haha) and through her writing, really taught me several new things about diabetes in the book. I hope my cousin can find the path to a healthier, happier life. This book will be shared for sure.

A COMPLETE, comprehensive guide for DMII
"Understanding Type 2 Diabetes" is your one stop shop for diabetes education and management. The authors pharmaceutical background is expertly portrayed by the content of this guide. The disease process of DMII is well explained, the treatment options are thoroughly presented (especially the medication sections), and patient advocacy and independence is greatly emphasized. Although this is a vast amount of medical terminology, the author did a great job of explaining numerous terms and even provided a handy glossary in the end. What stood out the most for me was the emphasis on how DMII can be controlled by diet regimens and regular exercise, rather than just by medications. This is Invaluable Resource!
This is great! It is really beneficial for some who have diabetes, especially type 2. Even if you don't have it, it is also good to know and understand about type 2 diabetes and how to prevent it. The best part is that I think it will help reduce medical expenses and visits to the doctor because the book not only provides knowledge about Type 2 but also offers strategies and realistic actionable steps to incorporate into daily life to help avoid complications, reduce expenses, and live a healthy life. Very educational! Highly recommended!!!

This book is an important read for Type 2 patients
When I was diagnosed with Type 2, initially pre-diabetes, I had no idea how to react. I only knew that I got this way from being a sugar-holic. I tried to eat less sugar in the form of candy and sugary desserts. Though I became conscious of the problem, it was not effective to try to eat less sugar. After a while, I would drift back. Then, I found that my entire diet was contributing to my high blood sugar. Eventually, I was put on Metformin, then more Metformin. About a year ago, I put my foot down and drastically changed my diet, and got a CGM diagnosed by my doctor. In 3 months, I lost 25 lbs. My A1C went from 7.2 to 6.1. My doctor was elated! If I had only had this book earlier, I would have known of the complexity of this disease. I highly recommend buying this book and taking what Dr. Sullivan says to heart. It just might save that heart and even your vision. Great book to get you on the right track!

Wonderful information!
Dr. Ashley does a wonderful job explaining diabetes and the effects on the body. Her information is spot on. The book continues with various ways to control your diabetes after reviewing the signs. The narration is engaging as well. I highly recommend listening and learning before you are diagnosed to hopefully avoid living with the disease. I got the book because my husband has diabetes. I wanted to learn from a professional in order to help him regulate his system. It has been a blessing!
