About this listen

Abby Johnson quit her job in October 2009. That simple act became a national news story because Abby was the director of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Texas who, after participating in her first actual abortion procedure, crossed the line to join the Coalition for Life.

Unplanned is a heartstopping personal drama of life-and-death encounters, a courtroom battle, and spiritual transformation that speaks hope and compassion into the political controversy that surrounds this issue. Telling Abby’s story from both sides of the abortion-clinic property line, this book is a must-have for anyone who cares about the life-versus-rights debate and helping women who face crisis pregnancies.

Although it's evident from the very beginning where the author stands, I feel that it still gives the reader a view of both sides. I'd be curious to hear someone's view from within the clinic also. It has helped me understand more my own personal views and for that, I'm grateful. 😊

This is an amazing story of perspectives on both sides of the fence around an abortion clinic.

I found this book an easy listen as well as informative. It’s anything but dull & I highly recommend it! I thought the movie was excellent & find the book even 10 times more excellent so it’s certainly worth your time!

Excellent 5 star book

I'd like to think no matter what side of the fence your on, that this riveting true story of Abby, who has been on both sides... emotionally and logically opens all our eyes. How one young person can easily be taken into a career in which she truly thinks she is helping- then to experience of watching the life of a baby be brutally killed before her very eyes and how God took Abby to that moment. 5 Stars, can't wait for the movie coming out in 2019! very enlightening. I know know praying for PP workers is just as important.

Life changing

I have listened to this book so many times. It's better than the movie even and much more detailed.

I loved it from start to finish. The author has been through a lot of soul searching. I suspect she still is. The narrator did an amazing job reflecting that. Some will critique the veracity of her tale or putting thoughts in people's heads. Both criticisms are understandable. But on the latter, you can pick any autobiography or non fiction book on current events and find the same. In Abby's defense, she talked to those she did this on to get a full picture of their (and hers) last struggles regarding her exit from Planned Parenthood and the subsequent court case.
I choose to believe Abby but as with many women, this is an extremely difficult topic (which she addresses from the start). She acknowledges how there's good and bad faith actors on both sides of the fence.

It's an emotional roller coaster

This one is so sad and real and honest.. Heartbreaking when she actually sees for herself what happens to a baby who fights for its unborn life right before a vacuum sucks its tiny body from its mother.. 😭 We need more ‘in your face’ stories like this. It’s not that I’m against abortion. I just think it shouldn’t be used for birth control and definitely not late term abortion aka murder of babies that could survive outside mothers womb.. 🫣💔

A Very Brave Truth that has to be told.

looking for a book to engage with my 23 year old daughter who is pro choice. unfortunatley discussions do not go well as she has blimders on as i approach the issues for science and reason she does from emotion and politics. when i say the baby has its own DNA she says its part of the mother, if i say how can that be when the baby moves on its own indepndabt from the mother, she says she doesnt know and that is an acceptable answer for her. anyways thid book approaches from the emotional side, which i now better understand the prochoice side much better. i am hoping my daughter actually reads this bokk as a way of seeing the other side of the fence. sadly, i dont think she will unless God intervenes. I will pray for a sofrened heart and for God to do the rest. Her name is Jospehine, please pray for her.

Such an emotional yet moving story. Johnson really tells you both sides of the story in a fair & balanced way.

I loved hearing this woman's powerful story! So genuine and real, and challenging to my own heart regarding the power of prayer and my own commitment to prayer. I haven't in a very long time had a book I felt like I couldn't put down, but this one did!

Genuine and touching <3
