About this listen

Available in audio first, a brilliantly funny, scorchingly sexy new romance from number one New York Times best-selling author Lauren Blakely!

Picture this - I’m ready to win back the love of my life, and I’m going big this time. We’re talking boom box, sing her name in the rain, let the whole damn neighborhood know I'm good and ready this time around. After all, if you're going to grand gesture the ever-loving hell out of a second chance, you need to pull out all the stops.

There’s only one little problem.

My college girlfriend isn't the one who shows up when I play my "I'll do anything to win you back" tune.

The woman who flings open the second-floor window tells me my ex doesn’t live here anymore. But she'll help me win her back. Anything for romance, anything for a guy so willing to go big for love. And that's what I want at first. Until I get to know my new “romance coach” and discover she’s funny, clever, and keeps me on my toes. And boy, do I ever need that.

Now I don't want to win anyone else’s heart. I want the woman who's been helping me all along.

Trouble is - she thinks I'm in love with someone else, and when we take off on a road trip, everything I think I know about women is about to be unzipped and turned inside out.

Laughed out loud. Loved every word.

Unzipped is Lauren Blakely's newest hilarious, sexy, fun romantic comedy. Lauren Blakely is just phenomenal. She can write anything and make it fresh, witty, unique and exciting. I listened to Unzipped in audio and I'm such a new fan of audio and I'm loving listening to books come to life. Unzipped was special to me because Tom is a big gesture guy and he loves to use movie quotes in everyday conversation. I also do this and I was giddy listening to him quote my favorite movies! Tom wants to win back his college girlfriend. He thinks go big or go home so he jumps right in. Except it's not her who hears but her neighbor Finley. She can't help but love his gesture, but after learning why he did it she wants to help him win her back. But she's also going to get something out of it. She's a tv show writer and she needs a muse. Tom is perfect! He's nerd sexy with his glasses and perfect face and he's hopeless when it comes to what women want. He has a lot to learn and she has a lot to teach! They aren't initially attracted to each other. It's more of a slow burn as they get to know each other, have fun together and learn new things. Then they go on a road trip together. Tom realizes he's not chasing his old love anymore, he wants new love. With Finley. Finley is afraid of her feelings for him because she's been here before. Left for the old girlfriend. But Tom is just so great, she can't help but fall for him. He's so clueless and I just wanted to pat him on the head and say "Bless your Heart." Finley is the perfect teacher, because she knows how women think and what they want. Tom is also helping her write new episodes of her show and they are some of her best work. They make a great team. They are pretending to date so he can learn. She is getting awesome material. And they are getting closer. Tom is learning and when he realizes he wants Finley, he's making all the right moves to woo her. Will Tom do all the right things to show Finley he wants her forever? Will Finley let her guard down and see the real Tom? I loved this story! The movie quotes, the 80's references, the hilarity, the swooning, the jokes, the music, the gestures. It was all perfection. This romance is so much more than just a unexpected lovers story. It shows Tom growing up and moving on. Letting go of childhood notions and looking at what's right in front of you. Finley learns to let go of her past and trust the man she's with. Not all men are the same and Tom is special. It made me nostalgic for my childhood. I wanted to call old friends. Watch Moonstruck, Say Anything, Love Actually, Bull Durham and all of my 80's favorites. Not going to lie, I already started watching a few! Andi Arndt and Joe Arden are fantastic! They have the comedy down perfectly and Joe has mastered the sheepishness of poor Tom! They are a few of my favorite narrators. They always bring me into the story with the great voices, ability to chuckle, use the right tone and bring the characters to life. They do emotion so well, I felt what they are feeling. Overall, I laughed out loud, smiled a lot, shook my head, got tingles, laughed more and really, really loved it.

A Gem of a story with fun 80s & 90s Pop culture

Time and time again, Lauren Blakely delivers a wonderful story telling romance that has you feeling like you're snuggled up on the couch with a cup of hot cocoa. All those good feels are reasons i continue to read LB's books.

To start off, don't judge a book by its cover, or title. The title isn't what you think, but more adorably the references it has throughout the book. If you love 80s and 90s pop culture movies, then this is it. Right here. You'll be taken back in time, and smile from ear to ear with each reference. I loved the adorableness of this book, and i wish there were 2-3 Epilogues like LB usually has. We'll have to settle with just the 1 Epilogue.

I love Andi Arndt's narration for LB's books, and i enjoyed Joe Arden's narration as well for this specific character.

This one will unzip all the feels

This book is AWESOME! I could so totally relate to Finley and Tom. Every quip revolving around movies and music made me grin like a loon. This is one of Lauren Blakely's best. If Andi Arndt and Joe Arden are listed as the voices I KNOW it's a winner.

heartwarming story

I always know I am going to get a book that I can’t put down when it comes to Lauren Blakely. I loved Unzipped and the narrators were perfect to bring the characters to life.

Tom (Kyler) is on a mission to win back his ex from college. He has it all planned out only it doesn’t go as he planned. He didn’t plan on Finley and the role she would play to helping him win back his ex.

If you are looking for a heartwarming story full of witty banter look no further. This was a fun listen that had me laughing out loud at times.

A funny sweet listen

4 star review of Unzipped by Lauren Blakely

The audio book is narrated by Andie Arndt and Joe Arden, who did a great job. I particularly liked Joe’s performance of the hapless and clueless Kyler (Tom). The camaraderie and banter between Tom and his brothers gave me quite a few laughs. Both Andi and Joe gave light hearted performances that complemented the story.
After an excessive “grand” gesture to get the woman Kyler believes he is in love with goes embarrassingly wrong, he meets and becomes friends with Finley. They bond over having unusual names and in fact she decides to use his middle name Tom, instead of Kyler.
Tom is clueless as to what happened with his college girlfriend and took her comments to heart and changed his life. Now he believes it is time to seek her out and let her know he has changed and is ready for love. Finley can see he has no clue what he is doing and so she offers to help him achieve his objectives.
Finley is a comedy writer, who enlists Tom as a sounding board/muse and writes some TV episodes based on Tom’s journey. It soon becomes apparent that Tom and Finley share more in common than just roller coasters and film quotes.
The connection between Tom and Finley was at times cringe worthy but some of their conversations had me in tears of laughter. These two are meant to be.
I was intrigued by the premise of this story and it was as I expected, sweet, charming and a little predictable. Certainly worth a read or a listen too as it will be a smile to your face.

He Brought the Geek She Brought the Quirk

I was pretty much sold from the whole "Say Anything" opening/meet cute. I'll admit that I did have a bit of an issue with Kyler's sort of out of touch obliviousness (did he really think he could win the girl after no contact at all over all those years), but as we get to know him, we see that the obliviousness is so much deeper and really just a part of his personality. I loved Finley and her quirkiness - she was so funny and vulnerable and I love how we got to see her insecurities AND how she conquered them. The road trip aspect was so fun and the chemistry between Kyler and Finley was phenomenal. As usual, Joe Arden and Andi Arndt brought the story to life in all its aural glory. Unzipped is definitely a book that I will listen to/reread over and over again! 4 out of 5 wine glasses.
