When impoverished, disheartened, poorly educated, but well-armed aboriginal young people find a modern revolutionary leader, they rally with a battle cry of "Take Back the Land!"

Theirs is a fight to right the wrongs inflicted on them by "the white settlers." They know they are too small to take on the entire country, but they don't need to. Over a few tension-filled days as the battles rages over abundant energy resources, the frantic prime minister can only watch as the insurrection paralyzes the country. But when energy-dependent Americans discover the southward flow of Canadian hydroelectricity, oil, and natural gas is halted, they do not remain passive.

Although none of the country's leaders see it coming, the shattering consequences unfold with the same plausible harmony by which quiet aboriginal protests decades ago became the eerie premonitions of today's stand-offs and "days of action."

I did find the Indian backstory quite lengthy and overdone, it seemed preachy and much too wordy.
I am glad the main characters had a lack of angst and the story moved along well.

Overall, a good story

I found this interesting and wonder if the variable groups of today could forego their self interest and collaborate in achieving an uprising? I enjoyed this book very much as it not only gives probable actions by military forces but also touches on the grievances of defeated nations.

Could this happen?

A tale with many lessens and WARNINGS. A extreme solution for 300 years of broken promises. Details and character development is excellent. To be honest after a while it seem like a history not the produce of a extraordinary imagination.
Told with an excellent narration.

I rooting for the native American

Well written and very well read. Fascinating look at the internal politics and domestic policy of Canada and possible implications for the US. It really does, as another reviewer wrote, read like some of the best non-fiction military history. What would be the implications of something like this happening among the native people of the US?

What if Canada came apart? What would it mean to the US?
