Kevin J. Kennedy
About this listen
After the success of Kennedy’s first collection, Dark Thoughts, he brings you Vampiro and Other Strange Tales of the Macabre. This one contains stories inspired by TV shows from his youth, such as Tales from the Crypt,’ Eerie India, The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits. Inside, you will find tales of a carnival vampire, a town overtaken by a special kind of Easter bunnies, tales of the insane, a journey through Hell at Christmas time, and many other shorts to make your hair stand on end. Some are funny, some are gross and some touch upon the evil of your fellow man.
Come and join us, but be warned… you may never want to leave.
Praise for Vampiro and Other Strange Tales of the Macabre
"Gruesome, outrageous, and extraordinarily entertaining: VAMPIRO AND OTHER STRANGE TALES OF THE MACABRE presents twisted tales of demonic possession, brutal monsters, revenge, and something like demented glee. It’s everything you’d want—and expect—from acclaimed author Kevin J. Kennedy." (Eric J. Guignard, award-winning author and editor, including That Which Grows Wild and Doorways to the Deadeye)
"Kennedy’s work is getting more impressive with each publication. I had a great time with this collection. You should seriously check it out." (Andrew Lennon, Author of Ode to Death)
"A nerve-wracking stroll through the bad neighborhood of a brilliant horror author's dark imagination." (Chuck Anderson, author of Ocean Gores and Sin City Succubus)
"Kevin Kennedy puts together a horrific selection box of tales.... Some serious, some tongue in cheek, all disturbing... That leave you wanting to devour another set." (Lex H. Jones, author of Nick and Abe & The Old One and the Sea)
"This collection is a perfect read for any time of year if you’re looking for a wonderful collection of creepy and strange tales!" (Erica Robyn from the Erica Robyn Reads blog)
"These stories are not for the weak of heart, they are wonderfully nasty, deliciously depraved and at times downright licentious. (William C. Bitner Jr, Books in my Library blog)
"With Vampiro, Kennedy takes you on a wild horror ride through the depraved, the horrifying, and the humorous, envisioning smart worlds and fresh spins on old terrors. (Christina Bergling, author of Savages & The Rest Will Come)

For some servicemen and women, coming home means the end of war. But for the Marines of Weapons Company, it's not so simple. Sometimes, the war follows you home. After the suicide of a fellow brother-in-arms, marine-turned-veteran-advocate Marcus Simpson organizes a weekend getaway. Marcus has seen too much to allow another brother to become a statistic. He knows that one weekend isn't enough, but maybe if he can get through to them, he can convince them to seek professional help. But what happens when a man's mind has been broken beyond repair? What happens at...the warrior retreat?

Story
It’s the mid-'90s. Grunge and flannel are fading as the Spice Girls and Hot Topic conquer the malls. Cherry gloss glistens on the lips of the youth. Modems hiss as America comes online. And in a fog-drenched cove at the edge of New England, something terrible awakens when a fisherman reels in a gruesome catch: the remains of a young woman. Remains still pulsing with furious life.

Story
It's 1994, and three stand-up comedians have embarked on a tour of smaller communities across a remote stretch of rural countryside. Dale is a forty-something comic from Chicago who's on the back half of a mediocre career and thinking about quitting the business. Rynn is a twenty-something fast-rising comedy star from Dublin with a big Hollywood break on her horizon. The third performer is a local act, a late addition to the bill who has agreed to open the shows and do all the driving. He goes by the name Hobie Huge, and he is, indeed, enormous.

Story
Her name is Odd. Twelve-year-old Audrey Wyatt bears the unfortunate nickname "Odd", a name even her bar-hopping, alcoholic mother uses when she's sober enough to recognize the girl. Cowed by life, Odd doesn't protest, not when she's deformed as she is. Born with a combination of rare birth defects, Odd's eyes are a startling and dreadful red. Demon eyes is the first thought that springs to mind. The little girl takes care to hide them behind dark sunglasses, something her mother insists on, except when she's trading freak-show peeks for dollars or drinks.

Strange Indeed!
Strange tales of the Macabre is the perfect description of this collection of horror short stories! You have creepy clowns, vampires, carnivals and a year round celebration of Christmas that is actually Hell! If you enjoy short, strange horror, give this one a try.
I was given the chance to listen to the audiobook by the author and enjoyed it immensely. The narrator did a great job and I would recommend this to any fans of "Tales from the Crypt" type shows/books.

Another great collection
I have read several collections by Kevin J Kennedy and each one is fantastic, whether he wrote them or not, he gives fans of many genres a bit of a taste in each book. The narrator is fine when doing his "narrator" voice but struggles a lot with accents. Good job though.

Don't miss this collection!
Vampiro by Kevin J. Kennedy is such a fun collection! There's a broad range here from the absolutely disgusting, to more heart-felt, then to the terrifying.
If you haven't yet, go snag a copy of this audio or physical book! The tales are just too good to miss out on!
