About this listen
The year is 1901, and the hustle and bustle of the holidays is descending on New York's Fifth Avenue.
For the first time in her privileged life, Adelaide Forsythe couldn’t be happier about the prospect of a quiet Christmas. That’s not to say her transition from Missto Mrs. has been without challenge. Though she doesn’t regret marrying for love instead of wealth, she feels woefully unprepared to run her own household.
Then, on the first Sunday of Advent, winter winds bring surprising change, first through a young orphan boy and then a seasoned housekeeper who seems too good to be true.
The boy, Jack, claims he isn’t an orphan at all and is desperate to reunite his family. While Adelaide and her husband work tirelessly to solve the riddle of Jack's story, Adelaide's new endeavors open her eyes to a world beyond her past experience—and all the possibility it holds. As Christmas approaches, small glimmers of wonder light the way toward the answers Adelaide seeks and the most miraculous gift of all.

Story
Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn’t mind being called “Lady Death”. It suits the ice queen persona she’s cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn’t hesitate to run the obituary…only to discover that Dot is very much alive. Nadine’s screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy—she’s been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest in Dot also surfaced chatter about a mysterious past scandal.

Story
After watching my mother succumb to a mysterious illness, I promised myself two things. I'd find the cure for what ravaged her and leave the godforsaken city where she abandoned me. Four years later, I received an acceptance letter from Dracadia University, one of the oldest most prestigious schools in the country. Nestled on a secluded island off the coast of Maine, it's rumored to be haunted by the souls of the mental patients exiled there centuries before, those whose bones are said to make up the island's white sandy shores. And restless ghosts aren't even its most daunting peculiarity.

Matthew Bixby despises social politics. Good manners and small talk weren’t prized in the slums, and despite having freed himself and his family of their poverty, Matthew never saw a need for such frivolous things. Until now. A war between the masters and workers is brewing, and if Matthew isn’t careful, it will destroy everything he’s built. But with so much of the battle being waged in ballrooms and parlors, he needs someone who can help him navigate society without adding to his burdens—a wife who won’t expect anything more than a partnership.

Mistletoe is Hailey Fairchild’s kryptonite. Every time she’s kissed someone under the mistletoe it’s led to love disaster. Not a good thing for a romance writer! When she was a gawky high school girl, her hunky neighbor, Carwyn Davies, star of the basketball team (and her dreams), kissed her under the mistletoe on a dare. But the kiss wasn’t a dream come true. It was a mortifying moment she’s never forgotten, and now she’s about to go home for the holidays, unengaged and . . . determined to say no to mistletoe. Especially if Carwyn is anywhere around.

Heartwarming Christmas Story
Follow this captivating, continued narrative of Howard and Addy as they begin married life together. Their lives are filled with the challenges and adjustments that naturally come when two become one. Watch as their lives suddenly take on a new twist. A young, recently orphaned boy, Jack shows up at their doorstep, which is just the beginning of a new adventure. A quest to find Jack’s lost sister, where they experience an unbelievable, eye opening, first hand look into the heartbreaking despair of orphanages. The story continues with several highs and lows along the way. And most difficult of all, waiting for Christmas. Will Jack’s father return as he has promised?
This story introduces several new characters along with their needs, wisdom, strengths, weaknesses and more. We are also reunited with several characters from All My Secrets. Adelaide’s work in the woman’s suffrage movement opens her vision for ministry as was kindled by her late grandmother’s faith filled ministry work.
Follow this young family, watch them grow and their dreams unfold as they prepare for their first Christmas together. This is a story of love, respect, compassion and faith.
Lynn Austin has done a tremendous job reminding the reader of hope, love, joy and peace. This Christmas novella will warm your heart and encourage your faith.

Enjoyable Christmas Read
Such a sweet little novella that continues the story from Lynn's previous novels, All My Secrets. I always enjoy knowing "the rest of the story" after reading a novel and this little story satisfies that with the continuation of Adelaide Stanhope, now Forsythe after her marriage to Howard Forsythe. The narration is enjoyable to listen to and the story is sweet. I highly recommend this wonderful book.
