About this listen

They're the only two single ladies on the lesbian love boat. Can opposites attract?

Jeanie Brooks is a small town history teacher who sometimes looks before she leaps, but when she books a last minute river cruise for lesbian singles, she knows she'll have no regrets. Two weeks of beautiful women and glorious adventure against the backdrop of Europe's most famous cities - what more could she want?

Eleanor Fielding is an actuarial accountant from Manhattan, and an expert at assessing risk from every angle. Analytical and reserved, the only thing worse than spending the summer floating around with a gaggle of desperate single women is the prospect of her sister nagging her for all eternity if she refuses to go.

But thanks to a ticketing error, Jeanie and Eleanor unexpectedly find themselves the only two eligible women on the Danube. What starts as an awkward alliance to salvage some enjoyment from the trip soon transforms into something more. When it comes to love, can this odd-couple learn to dance to the same rhythm?

Sweet love story between an unlikely pair of women

This was a sweet love story between an unlikely pair of women. It was about personal growth and doing things that are important to the other person. There were a couple of twists that I didn't expect. I listened to it every chance I got because I wanted to know what happened next. That plus the fact that I love Stephanie Murphy as a narrator! I've gotten several books simply because she narrated them. As usual she didn't disappoint!

Such a fun holiday romance!

This is the first book of the Americans Abroad series but it can be read out of sequence as it is a standalone... and oh my, what a fun one this was. I'm beginning to appreciate MacLeod's writing more and more, especially her humour. The premise itself was hilarious - Two American women boarded what they had thought was a lesbian singles cruise only to find out they were the only two eligible women around because of a ticketing mishap. And I thought it was pretty clever to have Jeanie and Eleanor as complete opposites and yet at the same time have them stuck with each other for two whole weeks with literally no other dating options.

It's lighthearted and I'm glad I listened to the audiobook instead of reading this one because it was great hearing Jeanie sound so excitable about everything. And she complemented Eleanor's anxious and OCD self really well.

This is my first experience with Stephanie Murphy narrating and I got used to her pretty fast. I thought her voice suited the lightheartness of the story, though somewhere in the middle, it became a little hard to distinguish Jeanie from Eleanor.

Nice book

I liked listening to this book. The characters were very nice and they complemented each other very well. I specially liked El with her rational mind and OCD quirks.
The narrator did a great job.
I recommend the book as a light read that puts you in the travel mood 😀.

Cute Love Story!!

Stephanie Murphy does s nice job narrating this story. Waltzing the Danube is an entertaining story about two women on a river cruise for single lesbians-or rather was supposed to be a river cruise for single lesbians. Due to a misunderstanding, they both booked the wrong week and find themselves the only lesbians on board. Hilarity ensues as the main characters are confronted with goofy situations that only MacLeod could dream up. You always know her main characters are going to fall in love, you just don’t know how crazy the ride will be getting there!

I liked it!

The story was sweet and the writing and narration were both good. I liked the characters and the circumstances didn't feel forced or unnatural. A pleasant listening experience!

Cute book

Like the premise of the book and thought it was very cute. my only thought would be the narrator. I live Stephanie's voice and she reads well but I could not tell the characters apart. They sounded the same, otherwise I really enjoy the narrator.

Definitely opposite attraction

Miranda MacLeod has become one of my favorite authors. Waltzing on the Danube is a bit of a slow burn with the love between Eleanor and Jeanie. Jeanie has the patience of an angel with the sometimes rude Eleanor. Stephanie Murphy, as usual, does a great job with narration.

Loved it!

I really enjoyed this story by Miranda MacLeod. Stephanie Murphy did a fantastic job narrating this one too! It's sweet, funny, and a little angsty. Definitely an enjoyable listen.

The story was ok enough, but...

Personally, I struggled with the narration. The writing is good, the story is cute, but it all fell flat for me with the narrator. This may have been a better read than listen.
