About this listen

Blaine "Mick" McFadden managed to restore Donderath's magic partially, but not without a cost. He and the magic are now bound together, and the power remains dangerous and erratic - draining the life from him with every use. New threats are rising from the wreckage of the battered kingdoms, and warlords both mortal and undead vie for control.

Now, Blaine and his unlikely band of convict heroes must find allies amid a sea of enemies and discover a way to rebind magic to the will of mortals before it destroys him. And time is running out....

Good build

This series is quite good and while I still feel like several hours could be cut if you are looking for very detailed worlds this series does it

Big fan of grim dark, but...

Prince of thrones and fools, first law trilogy, rage of dragons, etc. keep you engaged. Truthfully I stopped ten hours in, I’d be listening and then snap out of my thoughts to find 30 min of the story had gone by. Good for a long road trip, maybe?

Warning!!! This is Book 3 of a series

Any additional comments?

Good Book. Made me very mad that there was no indication that this was book 3 of a series.

Everyone Wants a Piece of Connor, it Seems

This 3rd book in the series moves the story along and keeps it interesting by introducing new characters and gives them just enough backstory to play a key role yet not too much to drag the story down.

While Blaine is still the primary protagonist, Gail's use of Connor being a medium was written well, considering that his trait allowed vampires, both real and ethereal to form a symbiotic bond with/to him, much to his dismay. His character was the most entertaining in this book.

The author also created some interesting fantastical creatures that mostly worked to hinder and harm Blaine's quest to restore the magic.

There is a 4th book in the series but I will wait for it to be offered in WhisperSync format before purchasing it to go along with the previous three.

enjoyable

Overall it is a very good story. There are some inconsistencies with the previous books, but very entertaining nonetheless.

Such a disappointment.

I had eagerly awaited this book since listening to the first 2. I found myself daydreaming more than listening to this one. I just couldn't seem to find anything in the story to hold my attention for long. I truly hope book 4 can recapture and grip my attention.

I hate Kestel!

Good grief! Kestel? The hooker assassin? Come on! It’s like a bad episode of Jersey Shore! She is like a tick! “You’re not going anywhere without me.” Yulk! If that’s not bad enough Blaine gets his ass kicked over and over and over and over and over...oh! and over again! Dam! Can we actually have a hero that is tough and heroic? Please!

Not even Tim Gerald Reynolds can fix this. Sad...
