Fairly boring

It was a book that made me not want to cheer for the hero. While the Egypt information was interesting, the writing was stilted. It felt like an English major was writing a history novel, using sophisticated words to show off, rather than putting the story first.

BRAVO!

I loved it. It was a good stand alone but I still want MORE! But I do wonder is it a stand alone it feels like there could be another is the series?

The whole book was really flat

The narrator was one level the entire time. There was no excitement in the fights, no emotion in the drama. It was all read at the same pace with the same level of urgency (or lack thereof).

The story itself seemed forced and stuttery. Why was the ancient organization who is trying to save the world letting the vital missions be led by this new girl who has only barely begun to be trained?

I can give allowances for YA novels targeting younger audiences. This went well beyond that allowance and took some extra ground with it. The storytelling was not good.
